NEI does too, and I like it better because it lets you see crafting recipes.
But, I'm using TMI because they haven't updated it yet.
about your map, plenty of people would play it, and a good place to post it is planetminecraft.

I agree with twotails, nei is better than tmi. Recepies are really useful, and they are specially useful if you have mods installed and you dont know how to craft stuff

every thing NEI gives you "item spawn in" wise is the same as TMI.

No blocks from mods! Why does everyone ruin their games with a bunch of crappy mods? I mean some mods aren't bad, and some are fucking fantastic (too many items), but the majority are just weird. I hate it when i'm watching a Minecraft playthrough and they install dumb mods that I don't want to watch. (TobyGames)

Ok, that's your opinion.
In my opinion, mods change up the game to make it..... just.... different.. i guess?
I don't know, it's not that default Minecraft is boring or not customisable, it's mods make the game more customisable and less boring (or not depending on the mod), because do you want wizards, new dimensions like the Aether, Blind Oasis and Atum, godzilla, ores like tin, uranium and titanium in your Minecraft game?
you don't? well, good. 'cause Mojang AB an't addin' dem to da game.
But you can, and that's why any mod for any game is awesome.

and my favorite block in DEFAULT Minecraft is cobblestone.

You probably never tried Industrial Craft, Red Power, Optifine (specially optifine), Equivalent Exchange, Thaumcraft, Buildcraft, etc.
