Maybe. But the power-up sections should be dufficult, original, and I think they should probably make up only 20-30% of the level.

The hardest part would be to use all the powerups in a creative way and make the areas original.

I know the second start is the "celebration" but I think to make the galaxy more interesting, that could come after a daredevil comet of the same level.

That might be almost impossible, depending on how the first one is designed, but maybe we can give them a life mushroom every now or then.

I think there should be separate parts like others have been saying, but at the end, all the challenging platforming mechanics should make up one part (beat blocks, flipswap tiles, yoshi flowers, etc.) or this could just be a "normal" section like the rest of the parts.

Perhaps one section could also have a space junk like path (do they have those in SMG2? if not, maybe a snakeblock path) with a bunch of bullet bills from each side?

Or a section where the snakeblocks go faster than Mario can run, but it loops and curves around so in some places, you have to long jump to get to the front of the snakeblocks?

Just some ideas.

Well we can't really do that since all world 7 galaxies are supposed to be 2 star unless cosmo or glem wants to break the rules :P
The other ideas I like though.

It would be a good idea to the gameplay of Beat Blocks abd Flip-Swap panels. Something that was never done with those two was an interior. Basically, the inside of something but with the walls, floor, and ceiling made of Beat Blocks and Flip-Swap panels.

In fact, why not try to recreate the yellow castles fron early Cloudy Court as shown in the E3 2009 trailer? Flower Grapples should also be used in conjunction like Goembario mentioned.

I know we are planning to most likely use Icy Snakeblocks but I personally feel that we be going overboard with the collision stuff.

I think what we should do mostly when it comes to custom objects in this galaxy, is to discuss potentially difficult sections based on enemy placement, hazard placement, and/or object structure.

Think of this planet as being shaped sort of like a chimney.

Each gameplay element should have a creative part in the level. (flip switches, Yoshi, etc)

Here is an idea: mud/tar Flip-Swap platforms.

I believe Yoshi can activate Flip-Swap platforms. Having the platforms made of mud/tar will make Yoshi indispensible. Although it is possible ti play Flip-Swap Galaxy with no jumping, having the platforms far apart prevents players from cheating the level.

Also, would epic arrays of Beat Blocks belong in this galaxy? I know the very first SMG2.5 was Question's creation of Glem3's Beat Block design but there are so many possibilites with Beat Blocks.

In fact, a combination of Flip-Swap platforms and Beat Blocks is a potential challenge except that could be more of a mindless mishmash that anything.

Nobody will expect nostalgia after hearing "Super Mario Galaxy". They'll expect Super Mario Galaxy. We have a galaxy for nostalgia already and any more would just be rehashing ideas uncreatively.

Yeah, wasn't retro remix for that?

Well, I found this near impossible level on YouTube (probably too hard for a normal game) that requires you to keep the cloud flower while going through hard platforming stuff. Perhaps there could be a part (just one small section) that requires keeping the cloud flower?

Maybe star 1 could be a universal collapse. With galaxies merging into each other! What if peaches castle crashed straight into delfino plaza while bob-omb battlefield had became invested with air fleets. Almost like the universe is collapsing on itself! Mario needs to give all the green stars he has found to rosalina at the end of the level and she uses them to fix everything! Then star 2 could be a fixed up, calm, happy version of the same galaxy!:)
