Alright guys, here's my latest design!

SIZE SWITCHUP GALAXY

Star 1: A Big Problem in Small Hands

See bottom notes for more details about the Planets~
[image]
Planet 1: Biggest Planet and Bowl-Island like Planet, the Jumping-from-branch-to-branch section is in the Whittle Forest, but not shown. Also, the Whittle Forest is the darker green section of the Island.
Planet 2: Spherical Water Planet, with Toad Brigade Ship crashed under the water(hard to read), and the Metallic Platform is on the surface of the water, not on the side. The Metallic Platform is the platform that Small Mario cannot reach, so he'll have to go back to normal size to jump out of the water and reach it.
Planet 3: Flat Land Planet(s), Mario will have to defeat enemies to break the barrier that is blocking the Size-Changing Pipe(also hard to read), then shrink and use Floaty Fluffs to go across the Mini-Platforms.
Planet 4: Rectangular-Prism Dirt Planet, contained with Blue Star Chips and Monty Moles. There are also many dirt mountains other than the two I mentioned, which are on other sides of the planet. The first Dirt Mountain is the one you first land on when coming into this galaxy along with a checkpoint on it, and the second Dirt Mountain is the tallest and isn't accessible until after you find all the Blue Star Chips, and on top of it is the Normal Pipe that leads to the Boss.
Each Planet will also get more art of its own to explain it better visually.

1st Planet (Normal Size): As Mario flies towards this galaxy; the player sees many grassy/water-like planets of many shapes and sizes. However, the planet Mario is about to land on is a big bowl-like planet, with lush trees on a green-flowery, open-field grassland along with a soft beach. With the grassland being an island in the center of the planet, with the water surrounding it. Many enemies such as Goombas, Wigglers, Mandibugs, Koopas, Piranna Plants, and other grassland creatures are in this galaxy. Once Mario lands on the galaxy, a Whittle talks to him. He says, “We need help. Monty Moles interrupt peace. Monty Moles come not too long ago. They take over one planet and they start to take over more. Soon they will rule galaxy! In forest we have power. You use power to restore peace.” Mario then walks into the huge open field with many grassland enemies, flowers, hills, etc. On the other side of the field, there is a small forest. After stomping enemies through the open field, Mario walks into the small forest. He sees Whittles inside some of the trees, which are their houses. (They live in the trunks of the trees, not on the top.) All the Whittles will say something like: “Monty Moles destroy plants.” or, “Go see Elder.” Mario then sees a big tree with the Whittle Elder inside. (We don’t have to make him old, just make him stand out from the others.) Mario then talks to him and he says, “You can help us. You use size power we have for many years. Size Power is at top of this tree. Good luck.” After talking to him, a switch activates than unveils wooden platforms to help get you to the top of the interior of the tree. After jumping on those platforms, you see a special warp pipe. (I was thinking to have it red or blue, for my plan is going inside a blue pipe makes you smaller, while going inside a red pipe makes you bigger.) Once Mario jumps inside the warp pipe, he comes out smaller which is just the model enlarged.

I couldn't label everything on there, so I'll do it here:
M - Where Mario lands at the beginning of the galaxy
W - The Introduction Whittle, who talks to you right after you land in the galaxy.
G - Goomba
P - Piranna Plant
F - Flowerbeds (It's kinda hard to see)
Dark Green Spots - Each tall hill
Obviously, there will be more enemies, flowerbeds, and etc. but this is just a quick sketch. And if you are confused, read the paragraphs I typed. They are there for a reason.

What it could look like as Mario goes through the forest and talks to the Whittles for the first time in this galaxy.

After Mario talks to the Elder, the platforms are unveiled and Mario uses them to platform to the top, then going into the Size-Changing Pipe, and finally exiting the tree via the small crack as Small Mario, which leads to the Jumping-from-branch-to-branch section. This location is NOT 2D, see the next pic for a 3D View.

This is my first 3D drawing, in terms of distance. This is not the shape of a vortex, it is the shape of a cylindrical tree from the top view.
Please see the previous picture of the Whittle Elder's tree, it goes along with this one.

1st Planet (Small Size): If you try to fall back to ground where the Elder is, you will die since the fall is much more dangerous. So, Mario, newly sized, looks around on the platform with the Size-changing pipe, and finds a crack in the tree. Mario goes through the crack and finds himself on a branch of the tree with a Mandibug. After avoiding/killing the Mandibug, Mario sees a Cloud Flower. After picking up the Cloud Flower, Mario becomes Cloud Mario and has to use the Cloud Platforms to reach the branches of the trees. And also, just like with the interior of the Elder’s tree, if you try to fall on the grassy ground while in this jumping from branch to branch section, you will die since the fall is much more dangerous. Mario is now in the jumping from branch to branch section which will have some Choppahs around the branches and Mandibugs on them. After using Could Mario to jump on some branches across the forest, you find the first checkpoint on a branch along with a launch star. As usual, jump in, and shake!

This picture should describe how this section will work.

2nd Planet (Small Size): If you are still Cloud Mario, you won’t be anymore! Mario flies towards a big spherical water planet with only one section of land on the surface. Mario lands in the water, taking away the Cloud ability if you still have it. Now you are going to realize the section of land on the surface of the water is too high for Mario to jump out of the water and reach. So, you’ll need to return to normal size. Dive back underwater, and explore through the planet with some underwater enemies which are Cheep Cheeps and Bloopers. (I forgot the names of the other underwater enemies XP.) While swimming underwater, you’ll find a barrier around a size-changing pipe. You’ll also find the Toad Brigade NPCs wearing snorkels and you’ll also find their spaceship… which has crashed in the planet. Although, you are too small to talk to them and they are huge compared to you. The glass windows on their space ship has shattered, making the interior of their ship accessible. Since you shrunk, going inside the Starshroom is huge. You’ll find some enemies in there, but you will also find a Koopa Shell. (Which is the only Koopa Shell underwater at this planet.) The Koopa Shell is being guarded by some enemies, so you’ll need to swim around them and grab it. After getting the shell, Mario leaves the ship and looks around the planet some more. You then find a Treasure Chest. (If you lose your shell, you’re going to have to go back to the interior of the Starshroom to get another one.) You then shake and Mario throws the shell at the Treasure Chest. A key comes out of the Treasure Chest, and touching that key removes the barrier around the size-changing pipe. Mario then goes inside the size-changing pipe to return to normal size.

2nd Planet (Normal Size): If you want, you can talk to the Toad Brigade NPCs, which are still underwater with snorkels. If you talk the Captain, he’ll say, “Hey Mario! It’s a pleasure to see you here… We had a little incident since I kinda let Yellow drive the ship. I was tired and needed someone to drive while I rest up. I let Yellow do it, and after 2 minutes, he fell asleep! I woke up from the emergency sound and red lights flashing around. Everyone was in panic when I saw Yellow… still asleep! We were heading towards this galaxy, and I was able to crash us into this water planet so no one would get hurt. Well I got some fixing to do, see you on the Starship!” If you talk to the other Toads they’ll say something like, “Oh Yellow…” And finally, if you talk to Yellow, he’ll say, “How did we get underwater?” So, since you are normal sized, you are able to jump out of the water and reach the section of land on the surface. When on the surface, you’ll see a Rocky Wrench. Once you kill him, a launch star will appear. Jump in and shake.

3rd Planet (Normal Size): Mario then lands on a grassy, flowery, flat planet. And near the planet are super small grassy platforms spread out that Mario couldn’t even stand on at this size. The first thing you see is the second checkpoint, along with another size-changing pipe, but the pipe is surrounded by a shield barrier, like the one the Yoshi Egg was in from Yoshi Star. You then see two Magikoopas with some Monty Moles surrounding them. After killing all of them, the shield barrier goes away making the size-changing pipe accessible. Jump in to go back to being small.

Since this planet and the platforms are just flat, I don't need to make more art for this planet. Also, extra notes under the pic.
-Red M is Mario, Blue M's are Magikoopas, and Brown M's are Monty Moles. (So no confusion for the same letter.)
-The pink/purple-ish thing around the Size-Changing Pipe is a barrier, similar to the one guarding the Yoshi Egg from Yoshi Star. You'll need to kill all the enemies to open it.
-When Mario lands on this planet, he'll have to get rid of barrier by killing the enemies. The barrier unveils a Size-Changing Pipe which makes Mario smaller. You then grab the Floaty Fluffs(which are too small for Normal sized Mario to grab) and go from platform to platform.
-Also, I didn't put this in the pic but, when Mario becomes small, you can go to the puddle and swim in it. In there is a 1up Mushroom.
-And finally, on the last platform, you'll have to kill 2 Monty Moles before the Launch Star appears.

3rd Planet (Small Size): After realizing you have shrunk once again, you find some Floaty Fluff Flowers and you will also realize strong wind. Furthermore, those spread out super small grassy platforms are now accessible. So, you’ll have to grab a Floaty Fluff Flower and use the wind to take you to the first closest platform. (There is no gravity on these platforms, so if you fall, you die.) Then on that first platform, grab another Floaty Fluff Flower to take you to the next platform, and so on until the fourth platform. On the fourth platform, there are a couple of Monty Moles, so take them out/avoid them and then you’ll see a launch star. Go in it and shake.

4th Planet (Small Size) [Part 1]: Mario flies towards a dark, dirt/earth/ground, kind of planet. The planet is in a thick, rectangular prism shape, similar to the last planet from Spin Dig, except this planet is 3D, not 2D. You land on a plateau/cliff part of the planet. There is also another plateau/cliff near you but it’s way too tall to reach, not even Normal Sized Mario could reach it. (If you were to jump off this part as Small Mario, you would die.) Next to Mario is another size-changing pipe along with the fourth checkpoint. Hit the fourth checkpoint, and jump in the pipe.

4th Planet (Normal Size): Once you come out of the warp pipe in normal size, jump off the cliff/plateau because it’s safe now and take a good look at this planet. This planet is covered with many Diggas, Monty Moles, and Rocky Wrenches. Mario will have to explore this planet in the terrain of Dirt Mountains, Dirt Hills, and rocky/dirty stuff like that to find 5 Blue Star Chips. The first Blue Star Chip is on top of a steep dirt mountain that would you need to wall jump to get on. The second one is in a shield barrier guarded by 3 Magikoopas, 2 Monty Moles, and 1 Rocky Wrench. The third one is in a cage (like the 1up in Sky Station) and you would have to go to the other side of the Planet to find a Rocky Wrench sitting on a normal, green warp pipe and then kill him. The fourth one is on the bottom base of the planet, (remember, it’s a rectangular prism) moving around in many directions while there is a bunch of Monty Moles there. The fifth one is hardest one to find. It’s not on the ground it’s in the air. If you look up in 1st person view, you will see it flying around the radius of the planet. So, on one side of the planet, there is a ground-pound spring. Mario will have to wait for the right timing and ground pound on the spring to send him in the air to grab the fifth Blue Star Chip. You then see a cutscene where the Blue Star Path forms, and it’s near where you first landed on the planet. The thing is, you can’t see it with Normal Mario, so you’ll have to go back in the size-changing pipe from earlier when you first landed on the planet.

4th Planet (Small Size) [Part 2]: Mario becomes small once again and that tall dirt mountain/plateau/cliff that even Normal Sized Mario couldn’t reach now has a long Blue Star Path. So the player pulls Mario through the Blue Star Path while avoiding Mines on the way. Once at the top, Mario finds a normal green pipe that takes him underground. When underground, Mario sees the final checkpoint along with a Lumalee. The player decides if they want a 1up Mushroom or a 6-Life Mushroom or nothing, then sees a couple of Monty Moles and a Rocky Wrench, followed by a normal warp pipe. After going inside the warp pipe, you end up in a… BOSS BATTLE!

Boss – Major Burrows (Small Size): After going through that normal warp pipe, Mario ends up in a 3D Underground-Dirt Rectangular Arena with Monty Moles high on the perimeter, behind glass as if they are cheering something on (If possible). Mario then sees Major Burrows do his entrance, and the battle begins. During the battle, there will be a little bit of Diggas trying to help Major Burrows defeat Mario. Since, when you ground pound, Major Burrows could get cornered since there are walls which takes the difficulty down a bit. Once you beat the boss, a star pops out. And as usual, you grab it.

I promise I will never add that "'c-circle' NSK" thing again. XP

This doesn't SOUND too bad but the pictures are kind of bleh. Also, "Tiny but still a plumber" is kind of blarg. Why is everyone abscessed with Mario being a plumber, ive never actually seen him clean pipes or anything so what gives?

That's okay, I suppose.
Only the first part is kinda weird, with the "size power". Perhaps just "strange power"?
The Starshroom planet is quite interesting. I suppose the interior could be modelled.
Just a few things, maybe there should be lots of Wigglers in the grass (small). :P
So normal Mario'll fall off the branch/can't walk on it? Nice.
Overall, the design's actually pretty good. Finish up the art, and let's see if glem likes it too. :D

The design is looking pretty good. The fourth planet with a normal section between the two small sections is a great concept.

As Glem3 has before on Size Switchup, having giant blades of grass that Mario can walk on is a nice concept for this galaxy. I encourage you could make a great part with giant blades of grass. Remember those bubbles from Cosmic Cove and Honeyhop? They would fit nicely as giant waterdrop hazards on the blades of grass.

This is a great design! As I said on the IRC, make the Whittles talk a little simpler (Instead of "Soon they will rule galaxy!", how about "Soon they rule galaxy!") And check out Pengo6Yoshi7's comment on the concept art thread and see if you can work it into part of the design. There was one simple idea there that I liked, but if it's too hard to implement than you don't have to use it. You're the designer! ;)

But seriously, great design so far.

I saw his comment, and it gives me ideas for Star 2 and 3. I'm now thinking to use Yoshi in Star 2...

hmm..I'm looking at the boss arena.
I have no idea on whether Major Burrows will function right.

Gotta test that.

Design Updated with 3 new pics! Also, even though all the art is in 2D, the actual level is in 3D. I just drew it in 2D for you guys to understand more clear.

Great work! Looks really nice and Monty Moles cheering in the background of the Major Burrows boss would be awesome.

Erm, while I think I dislike the design, I'm finding it hard to tell because of that art >.<

My main worry is the boss arena. Major Burrows would look pretty weird going through diggas, and...Wouldn't he glitch in such an arena?

While the new art is fine, i'm generally neutral on the design because I don't really like this galaxy in general, it's a reused concept from Mario Bros. 3 and Mario 64

Basically speaking, i'd have to see the concept in-game to have more thoughts.
