ost all your level design ideas for Fearsome Factory here! I think it'd be cool to have this be a straight-up mechanical galaxy, with no other sub-themes to get in the way. I'm thinking... A massive factory planet in which massive conveyor belts, smokestacks, and vats of molten metal can be found.

Since this is Bowser's primary factory, we could include pretty much every single one of his mechanical enemies.

I think that one of the stars should be guiding the golden chomp across the rails, across the lava and molten metal and between the mechanical enemies like the mecha koopas and and mini chomps as you clear the path for the golden chomp.

What "star" exactly?

A star, as in, a mission?

Anyway, that could be an interesting segment inside the factory.

Oh, I thought he meant the star was actually guiding the chomp. :P Silly me.

That sounds awfully similar to the Chompworks, though.

0.o Well, it's the same as using silver stars. Is Whitehot similar to let's say...Sea Slide Galaxy just because it has silver stars?

Guiding a Golden Chomp over lava while avoiding enemies? Just adding some Mecha-Koopas isn't really going to make it different enough.

Not to shoot down the idea, I just think it's not original enough.

Well, Chomps are forged in Lava, and the layout and surroundings will be different.

It's an underused idea, I think we should go all for it.

Even though this is a World 6 mission, guiding a Golden Chomp througbh a whole level would be much too annoying.
How about a section with tons of Chomps rolling everywhere, plus extra chomps rolling on elevated walkways, some falling down to the floor, so Mario must dodge the Chomps and run through the room (takes a while though).

well yeah, it's not gonna be ALL guiding a chomp, but a lot more then they did in the first place. It was what, one segment out of 5? I think it was like 3 or 4 things you had to do to guide the chomp but I would want 5 or 6 in one segment and we could possibly use it again for a hidden or green star. Think of it more of a puzzle then a challenge.

Okay.
Anyway, maybe the Golden Chomp should actually be rolling on a different track from the player, but weaving around and up & down and getting stopped a few times, and so that Mario's actions trigger the blockage being lowered. This'll make the star a puzzle, not a quickly-run-to-the-switch-and-lower-it-at-the-right-time thing the Chompworks used. For example, perhaps a gate could be lowered so that a Bullet Bill could smash a crystal or something blocking the Chomp on its path, or perhaps getting across a room of enemies to press a switch to lower a gate, or maybe raising a gate to block a Ledge Hammer from blocking the Chomp etc.
Essentially, the Golden Chomp won't break, but it'll stop until Mario finishes the mini-puzzle. Homing things or switches preferred.

I'd like this galaxy in general to be an actual giant factory, unlike Chompworks. If a mechanical indoors background is possible.
(Note: something like "Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword"'s Lanayru Mining Facility. Search google images, find the "indoor" looking ones, because the video is about half an hour. Pretty much, it involves a mine cart and a factory. Sand/mechanical/time theme.)

That would be really cool. I liked the feel of how that dungeon was. The only problem with buildings is that Mario will have to PRACTICALLY get in there. Possibly like in SMG1 where the launch star made you break some glass.

What do you mean by 'practically'? (And smashing through a window is practical? :P)

PRACTICALLY being just that. Something that could actually happen, not just appearing inside. And that's the only thing I could think of :P

Hole at the top. :P

Well, it managed to give a deserted/abandoned feeling, partly because it was really big and rather empty. This one should be a lot more crowded, with Ledge Hammers, Chomps, a river/pool/container of lava, Mecha-koopas, water/electric/fire shooters, smokestacks, conveyor belts (were they in a SMG game?) , a few airships lying on the ground, Amps, electric fences, and a lot of switches/tracks. It can be divided into several parts, too. (Don't forget the Bowser flags)

Hmm, I guess so. I kinda liked the desertedness, but then again this is world 6 so it should fit. I think a 2D part with those ledge hammers might be well made

Mecha-Koopas will have to play a key role in this galaxy, lol.
