Well, I decided to go over my old design again for the 3rd time.
And make a thread for it since everyone else's doing it. :P
Here it is:

_________________________________________________________________
Planets:
-Main planet: a huge pill/sausage shaped dirt planet
-Drilling puzzle planets
-Boss planet
___________________________________________________________________
Star 1:
Mario lands on the side of the main planet, next to a caged Luma, "Oh, Mario! Could you help me out of here? Those stinkers buried the key in that hill!" And so he has to take one of the numerous Drills left all over the place, and make his way over to the dirt hill, avoiding various Diggas, crystals, and machines, as well as the occasional Whomp/Thwomp or Magikoopa. The surface is bumpy, with random hills, columns and pits all over the place. But the mine is actually in a huge circular depression (so Mario can't get out).
___________________________________________________________________
Mario has to drill through the top of the hill (with a drill spot to mark it), reaching a small cave littered with drilling machines and huge gems, forming a kind of small maze with the key at one corner. As in, big gems of varying sizes (but still about the original size), with Diggas / Undergrunts burrowing in circles around them, and with machines or mini BJ doors blocking off many spaces so that it’s rather like a maze. This should be rather small though.
_____________________________________________________________________
When he returns to the Luma via a drill spot where the key was (made obvious by a sign pointing it out), :"Oh, thanks! But the pipe leading to the heart of this mine has been locked...I'm pretty sure it's in one of the outer parts of the mine. I'll make a shortcut for you!" *Launch Star spawn*
_____________________________________________________________________
Mario now has to go through a 2 quick drilling puzzles on individual planets. The first one should be Agent000’s puzzle (a 2D dirt and metal planet. Mario has to get up on a higher platform to get a good look at the puzzle, which bounces him around inside and to the Launch Star when Mario drills in the right place)
(note: it was somewhere on the old thread. Haven’t retrieved it)
(Note: This section needs one more puzzle. I might add one later, but it’d be rather unclear without art. Posting a drawing/picture would be appreciated.)
After the key is found at the end of the last puzzle, a Luma wishes him good luck and blasts him to near the pipe.
____________________________________________________________________
He emerges in a cavern, like the one before, except swarming with enemies, and without any machines. Rows of gems lead from holes in the wall (blocked) into a huge hole . Navigating around (or killing) the Diggas and Undergrunts, Mario must move between the gems and jump into a large hole, with many crystals stuck to its edges.
_____________________________________________________________________
The hole takes Mario to a large metal corridor with a layer of dirt over a metal floor, and Bowser Jr. doors lining the walls. A batch of large (slightly flattened) gems are being pounded by Ledge Hammers, some beating down on the gems (safe for Mario) and some beating down on the dirt between the gems (not safe). Mario has to dash between the safe spots, but he’s not fast enough to reach the next gem. He has to drill down with good timing under the Hammers to avoid getting crushed, then run. A signboard (ranged speech bubble) should inform Mario of this. Luckily for him, this section is short and has a checkpoint at the beginning.
_____________________________________________________________________
After he makes it through this (rather short) part of the corridor, Mario comes across an small area where the gems are being heated by flamethrowers firing together. Nearly the same as the previous section, except there’s only a narrow strip of dirt to drill down, so that the player has to hurry around the flattened crystals.
_____________________________________________________________________
A drilling spot at the end of that short section bounces Mario many times, all the way to the other side of the huge planet, where a Launch Star takes him to the boss planet.
____________________________________________________________________
Bowser Jr’s dialogue: “Hey! How’d you get here? …and I left my toys at base, too…Oh wait, there’d one at this mine! It’ll have to do! Stomp ‘im, Digga-Leg!
Boss:
An enlarged Digga Leg fought on a donut shaped 2D planet with pieces of metal embedded in it, and a small round metal ball in the middle of the hole, which makes the only way to kill the Diggas spawned is to drill up beneath them.
Oh, and there are a few Banzai Bill Launchers pointed at the planet, just to spice things up.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Please tell me what you guys think of it. :)

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it's usually an oncoming express train.

Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys.

I really like the puzzles like the Ledge Hammer one. For the Ledge Hammer and Fire Shooter sections I'm assuming the traps are both sides?

Yeah, the Ledge Hammer/ fire shooter sections have them covering all non-safe spot areas. Not sure how hard it'll be though.

Thanks for the comments. :D
I was worried it wouldn't look like a BJ galaxy, so yeah.

hm, it's nice, I guess. But the first planet needs a bit more detail.

And again, the boss seems a bit too hard with Banzai launchers, but Gobblegut was the original W1 boss, so I guess it's fine :P

Edited the first section.
Oh, and the boss fight, as it is, will have its difficulty in the fact that it's a lot harder to kill the Diggas. They'll cluster in the center, so Mario has to quickly drill up and down killing them all (that's what the metal ball is for. Forcing Mario to use the drill to kill the Diggas), then run across to Digga-Leg's underside.
