I just wanna know how you guys feel about it.

I haven't tried it out yet so I can't judge it right. But from what I've seen, the new interface looks too simple. It's ugly. Even Windows 3.1 looks nicer.

I also don't like the Metro/WinStore crap. Windows users have always been able to install programs freely. Why should they be given a new way of doing so, that is heavily controlled by Microsoft, and made the only way on tablets?

It just seems like Microsoft is lamely trying to be like their competitors. That's not how you get success, morons. You need to be different from your competitors to attract more people.

That aside, Windows 8 may be a pretty decent OS. I have a negative feeling about the new interface, though. Guess I'll be installing it on a spare computer.

If it's possible to get a Start menu back, or if I get used to the new weird method, I might also install it on my main computer.

It's....ok, but Windows 7 is MUCH better, my laptop has Win8 and it constantly bugs me with stupid stuff.

Bad Move Microsoft.

The layout sucks on it, that's all I really know about it. Plus, it looks seriously confusing...

The start menu is partially an advertisement to just use microsoft products like XBOX and all that, it sucks.

But I heard Windows 9 or Windows "Blue" won't remove the Start Screen, potentially breaking the Good Bad cycle.

Uh. I have windows 8 since it came out. Its great. The looks might not be like you like them, i dont care about looks. Funvtionality is great after you get used to it. You might not understand the new start screen. Its pretty simple though. I miss the start menu, but ill live with it. Windows 8 is much faster, and it is much better with battery saving. I could use my laptop for 1 hour and a half unplugued. Now i can use it for 2 hours and a half. Thats 66% more. My laptop used ro start up in 2 minutes. Not it starts up in 20 seconds. Thats about 15% than it used to be as it saves an "image" of the state at which the pc was on and reopens it.

I have got windows 8 for almost 4 months now, and its great. You can install all you want, everything you can install on windows 7 can be installed. Some tablets let you do that too. Not Windows RT, but if you get a Windows 8 Pro tablet, itll install anything for you. Windows doesnt control your installs...
So. If you have a tablet, get windows 8 pro, not rt. If you have a laptop/desktop and you have windows 7, dont upgrade. If you can get it as a gift, get it, its great, and its faster.
(games also run better on windows 8, i got around 3fps increase with windows 8 over windows 7, which might not seem as much, buts its enough to make me love it.

Windows 8 is BLARG. I've tried it, and it is just a watered-down, overcomplex piece of shit.

It's ok. Not the best, but it's fine. Got in running in my OS X Parallels virtualization software.
Status: It was really, really fun, guys - thanks for the ride!

It does relate. The concept of having a company have a bad version of their product, then a good one, then a bad one, etc. It wasn't off topic at all:P Windows does the same thing.

Yes, it was off topic, it was relatable, but not really relevant to the discutions.

:/ I know. But nothing runs on it anymore. Specially when 128-bit systems come out some day and you'll have to run new OSs.

OS X 10.8 FTW. Windows 8 is fine but not great, and Windows 7 is aesthetically superior.
