Oh, I forgot that strings in SMS aren't NULL-terminated. So the only solution is a name of the same length.

I love Super Mario Sunshine. The game seriously needs a level editor. I would like to see attempts to make Hotel Lacrima, Erto Rock, Warsship Island/Battleship Island, Fire Shrine/Flame Temple, and Lighthouse Island. I would also to see a fan-made train system "based" on the info we have about the stations and harbors for the levels. We should put Hinokuri (Tramplin' Stu, Stompin' Stu, whatever-you-might-call-it) in the game.

SMS hacking could be good... but the levels would be a pain to design IMO. What sunshine needed was an ice level.

The Himalayas are located in a hot region but are frosted due to their height. Corona Mountain had grey stone resembling snow at its fumarole.

Sorry to say, but I hate Ice Levels, they remind me of winter, which SUCKS. Beach levels on the other hand, remind me of summer. :3

Well, there is only the ice block in the second visit to Delfino Airstrip and in some secret levels. Unless we make custom models as with SMG2.5, there is no snow in SMS.

This is a recreatation I found of the early Delfino Plaza from the Spaceworld 2001 trailer. Once possible, this would be nice to see in a Super Mario Sunshine hack.

NWP's hack is an SMG2 hack but I mentioned on the forum site he created (smswii) that it could be a game made from scratch like LMWiiU. I think Rean plans on this hack to be on GC/Wii.

Good news. I've located some code that refers to title.arc, as well as title.blo. Better news is that it is present in all three versions of the game. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the game's coding, so I don't know how it works, but I do see references to scenes, and I can tell you that it is located at 0x3A0E08 (US) / 0x371A98 (JP) / 0x398890 (EU).

I don't care about the objects, I care that someone is actually trying to make SMS editing practical. This is a hell of a lot more than MrRean could ever do in the amount of time he took. However, as I told the guy, it's kinda sad that this is still impractical, because no version of Riivolution or easy way to load files to test stuff.
Until that happens, you need a really powerful computer to run SMS nicely, and patch the ISO in a reasonable amount of time.

Interesting.

But, as NWP mentioned, the problem with the Gamecube is the difficulty to run a hacked game. Due to the lack of a system kernel running behind the game, it's hard to patch disc files on the fly like Riivo does. The only solutions would be either hardware-based hacks uploading a modified ISO to the Gamecube somehow, or burning minidiscs at every try (and having a modded drive).
