In the thread with the elusive yet very eloquent title "fart" it was noted that forum posts rarely contain proper paragraphs nowadays. Allow me to present you a bunch of real paragraphs written by an actual human being.
Today I'm on a nostalgia trip revisiting old forums and boards that I've been an active member on many years ago. And when I visit those, I also log in to either delete my account or change my password for security reasons. Turns out that I didn't log into Kuribo64 for more than 8.75 years of inactivity. Quite some time, huh? My activity here declined after the SMG forums were closed, pushing me to search for another place revolving around SMG modding. As the years went by, I completely forgot about Kuribo64 and did not update my posts about my projects here. My previous post was exactly 3145 days ago according to my profile. I am still actively modding video games, but I have moved on to pursue other modding projects that are not related to SMG modding. Now, I'm not here to advertise those, so I won't elaborate on that further. Revisiting my old posts and private messages here really shows me how much I have changed over the years. English skills, programming experience, general and interpersonal behavior. My private messages are a treasure trove of old cringy posts and early plans for Neo Mario Galaxy. But there are also moments that make me cringe or that I'm not fond of. Most notably the way I treated the user Galaxy Hacker back then... Looking back, I'm very grateful that this board was created and SMG modding took place here. It is kinda sad that forum culture is dead nowadays. I hope this place doesn't get wiped. There's a bunch of private messages that I don't want to lose access to. |

a bit late on the reply, but hey, welcome back
nice to see old timers peek around, those forums aren't really active anymore at all - sorry about the whole "closing the SMG forums" bit looking back on it, it was a mix of my usual ADHD self seeking new stuff, not having enough skill or determination to pursue certain aspects of SMG hacking, and my disappointment in how SMG2.5 went not to say I don't have some amount of responsibility in it -
I feel this way about much of the SMG2.5 community, or RVLution. retrospectively, it feels like so much of the shitshows I found myself involved in could have been avoided with better communication... the way this board was handled is similar, too... mostly the switch away from Blargboard, which I impulsed largely due to personal taste. it was a mix of wanting Blargboard dead and buried (due to bad associations) and also wanting a simpler, thinner codebase. the switch did feel like a downgrade in that some amount of the forum layout, features, and so on, were lost. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

I assume the MelonDS board that's under this domain is your main board now?
The archiving of SMG forums really surprised me back then because it seemed to me that it was garnering new modders and good research progress. Hence, I created my own board and Discord server later on. SMG modding is pretty big nowadays, but I mostly lurk around after a 2-year hiatus. RVlution is a name I mostly forgot about until someone else mentioned it to me a couple days ago. That... sure was an experience. I wasn't really an active member on that place, as the toxicity was so prevalent. But yea, that was 10 or more years ago. I really liked the Blargboard layout. I remember you sent me Blargboard 1.2 back then so that I could launch and host the Neo Mario Galaxy development board. I still have a full backup of that board, including the software and the SQL database. I think I closed it in 2018. |

the melonDS board mostly serves for melonDS support, so it's not very active. I'm mostly active on Discord these days...
makes me feel bad about it... but then again, I was largely inactive in that scene, so I think it made more sense to pass the torch and move on.
retrospectively I had responsibility in it too. overreacting to things, seeing everything as some power game where I had to appear strong and adamant or I was basically dead, etc. but yeah, I had the feeling there was this toxic group of users trying to exploit things to their benefit, and I think I was right about that part. RVLution was the other big board that ran off Blargboard, and it sprang that shitshow of "derpboards" as I used to call them. a lot of stupid drama. I guess the association with that (and failure to make Blargboard a more serious thing) were the reasons why I wanted it dead and buried. related fact: this board had a Blargboard support forum. it's still here, but you can't see it. you aren't missing out on much. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |
