shit, sounds horrible
here we had like 37°C at times, already pretty hot. most of France got like 40°C, I guess we didn't due to being close to the sea, but, still. this feels like the kind of '2050 weather forecast' things they made back then to warn about global warming. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Oh, yeah I heard Europe suffered under a heat wave, did hit like forty degrees. Thirty-seven is pretty stinky temperatures too, though. What's worse than the sun are those awful high pressure ridges, though, they're the main reason the heat waves happen.
I kinda was half-dead at home. All the windows were closed, fans were running, but it wasn't pleasant. Do you French have air conditioning? I COULD go to a cooling area but didn't realize how bad it really was in hindsight. I also didn't really want to go to the apartment pool because people are there iirc and I'm not in the mood to potentially catch COVID. People need to treat heat-wave as the bad weather it is, for hampering with productivity, killing people, stressing power grids, and whatnot. It's not as SPECTACULAR as floods tho but people underestimate how damaging heat waves are to people. |

I don't have AC over here. people with AC are still in minority in France, from what I read.
I just had my fan on 24/7 to deal with the heat. still managed to sleep and all, but, yeah. and you're pretty right. many people died to this shit. (but meanwhile all they ever say is 'o yeah guess we haven't been recycling hard enough, y'all recycle harder pls') ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Yeah. It's because it's not expected for France to get THIS hot in the summer. Same for Northern California I guess. But at least you have a nice nuclear energy infrastructure. Maybe invest in AC for the upcoming years but we've been dawdling on the climate crap for TOO long. Maybe some uber rich people in France and the U.S. can be one or two yachts lighter. Just a modest suggestion.
I mean the whole "we're not recycling enough" is putting blame on people who pollute less lol. What's REALLY going on is that production line crap is generally responsible for a lot of the CO2 pollutants and whatnot, and the rich do consume more than us on an exponential scale. Not saying, "don't reduce", we all should do our parts, but not enough attention is paid to the mass polluters. We can ban private jets for instance.... |

Yeah, definitely. I also think a looooot of the issues are systemic (or the rich fucks being rich fucks, which, yeah). It will probably take some amount of disaster before things really change for the better. But idk, we're entering a new cycle of crisis and they don't have any options left to save capitalism -- even economists that aren't radically left are starting to say it. At this point, they can either restructure production to really meet our needs instead of max profit, and steer away from capitalism, or continue slashing public service and workers rights and going full authoritarian. But even the last option has its limits -- who will there be to buy the crap they produce when everybody is too poor to afford things?
As for our nuclear power... about half the reactors are down, due to corrosion problems. Because, guess what, the neolibs in power have been cutting everything, including maintenance costs. Heh. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Well those disasters ARE happening as we speak. Just in countries that don't "matter", such as Bangladesh. Or Pakistan which endured some horrific heat waves and then catastrophic floods. Hell in Texas in this country, they experienced a devastating winter only exacerbated by Republicans' unwillingness to try to do something about the grid for the winter. That grid, of course, failed last winter. Oh and there's COVID which again our Republicans don't care about and they're likely the reason COVID has stuck around for like over three years now and is here to stay still.
Pretty sure our Republicans won't abandon capitalism like they won't abandon their conservatism. They're going to go authoritarian instead. That's what the saying goes, for conservatives anyway. Oof yeah neolibs probably REALLY don't like nuclear power because of general public stigma to nuclear power. Macron is basically a free market fundie, I hate those types. |

It's warmer around these parts. And more moist it seems. ____________________ Netplay is a language we all speak. Here’s my Discord. Kinda constructed now where we talk about whatever and lounge around on weekends. https://discord.gg/CqMArxq |
