Hello Everyone,

I've been diving deep into Super Mario 64 recently, and as I’ve been exploring, I’ve noticed just how many hidden secrets, glitches, and interesting mechanics are still out there to discover. With the game being over two decades old, it’s impressive how much is still being uncovered by both casual players and speedrunners alike.

One thing I find fascinating is how the game’s programming and physics can be exploited to achieve things that the developers probably never intended, from performing glitches like the infamous "backwards long jump" to using various game mechanics to access areas that are normally off-limits. I’m curious to hear from others who might have spent time exploring these glitches or hidden features—what’s your favorite secret or glitch in Super Mario 64?

For example, I recently discovered how to perform the "Flying Cap glitch" to access areas not typically reachable without using cheats or hacks, and I found it incredibly cool. I also love the community's creativity in modding the game to uncover even more new possibilities.

Beyond glitches, I'm also interested in lesser-known details in the game that people may not notice on their first playthrough. For instance, I was amazed to learn that certain textures and areas in the game are still incomplete or have placeholder content, which really shows the development process behind the scenes.

What are your favorite Super Mario 64 discoveries, and how did you find out about them? Do you have any tips for others trying to uncover more hidden gems in the game? Let's share our experiences and keep the spirit of exploration alive!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Thanks in advance for your help and support.

My fave is framewalk: rapidly tapping the analog stick in the direction of a slope allows you to climb up that slope (unless it's slippery) - no matter the steepness. Quite hard to perform unless you use an emulator like me and just spam the arrow keys ;)...

Also, the beta/unused content: unfinished Blarggs, trampolines. BOB was going to have a river, but Miyamoto deemed that too difficult for a first level. While Castle Grounds had water already, blarg. Beta enemies like Motos, Hopper... and of course the fact that Luigi was actually planned to be in SM64. But the team couldn't figure multiplayer out. Nowadays hackers have made multiplayer in SM64 possible, because, y'know, fans do what Nintendon't!

And yeah, can't have a thread about this subject without talking about parallel universes.

And last but not least, have a meme:

Flareon shoarma doesn't need to be baked anymore, it's pre-baked.
