This is a ROM hack that I'm making with the goal of it being the most technically impressive hack of SM64DS. It features custom enemies, platforms, and even particle textures. Right now, 44 stars in 8 courses are done.

16 (26?) main courses containing 128 (208?) stars and 16 (38?) other courses containing 32 (48?) stars are planned. (Maybe I'll have 64 courses for 256 stars?)

A new demo (v0.1.4) has been released!
This one has 2 new levels and a lot of bugfixes. The reason for the release of this demo is that one of the bugfixes required a lot of change to the code, and I want to make sure I didn't break something.


Note: Screenshots are out of date.

Use program xdelta c# sharp patcher is on GitHub. from hack/patch Super Mario 64 DS Original to modify Super Mario 256.xdelta !

The videogame ROM Hack Super Mario 256 have/contains 256 stars and 64 courses/levels.

Can somebody help me ??? If I use a us rom (on real ds), then it does step 1, step 2, wait... then says ''patch errcode=-4. If I use the wet'n wild european rom, then it says ''file successfully patched'' (like with the us) but the file has a white logo and no ds logo on it. Then I go in my ds and open the folder... my file is just not there. BTW I patched and played the new beggining with this rom and I haven't modified it afterward. I wanted to play this hack for more than a year now and I finally decided to ask it here. I would be so glad if I could play it.

hi i downloaded super mario 256 and at first it looked fine but as soon as i pressed new file everything went all glitchy and crazy, all i can see is some pipes a block and a spazzing out giant mario on my screen, i cant even see the floor, so con someone please help me i realy want to play this rom.

Great rom hack it's the best sm64ds rom hack i've ever played! ...but one problem
i can't play it on my ds but i can on my 3ds.
idk what's the problem.
