Well... honestly I've been working the same job for a while, since April of last year. Still part-time, though, so no insurance (weep for America again, you Frenchie). My sister hasn't been active in this forum for a VERY long time now, but currently, she's also working a full-time job. The post office. Well, it's her second job because her first job is stinky. I don't have as much anxiety at this job as I used to.

My sister and I officially hate dogs as I gotten myself bitten by one, badly may I add. Bled, puncture wounds. Got admitted to an emergency care place. Prior to this, I had to take care of him; they're my boss's dog and we gotten acquainted for a bit for several months. I walked him, and when that was done, I tried to feed him and that's when I got bitten on the forearm. Very unexpected. I forgave him the first time, my bosses profusely apologized and compensated. Then I took care of him again the second time, believing it won't happen again. Dog bit me AGAIN on the hand, WHILE FEEDING. AGAIN. But no puncture, just a bruise. And then there's that, no more taking care of him but I don't trust him again and I don't think I can trust dogs ever again really. When people say their dogs don't bite, that's bullshit.

My sister is a post office worker so hating dogs is a given. Didn't help that she got nearly attacked by one.

re: dog

that's shitty, sorry it happened to you

this sort of thing is why, well... I don't hate dogs, but I'm always nervous around the ones I don't know well.

anyway, if your jobs work for the two of you, that's good. I hope your family situation has improved, too.

as for me, I've been working a full-time job since May. it's nice, the atmosphere is good, not too much pressure, and I get paid well considering how much I usually spend.

I'm still battling depression, but eh. this time I'm on a treatment plan, pretty much gonna throw everything I can against it. venlafaxine, lion's mane mushroom, healthier diet, ...

You can't trust stranger's dogs. They MIGHT seem friendly but they're apparently unpredictable and it feels like one wrong move leads to a bite. I don't have the heart to like yell at a dog or make nasty faces to it (might hit them if they're being nasty to me though), and I do pet them if they're nice enough but I do always keep my distance and won't spend too much time with them.

I mean I'm NOT at my family right now so that's good. I'm yearning to be back for my sister, though, as it's been now two years I'm without her. It's not easy.

Eh can you make rent? I'm in Bay Area, the place known for exorbitant rent prices. One bedroom apartment is like at LEAST 2500 American bucks per month which is like 2355.67 euro or something. And no healthcare! I'm one bad car accident away from being bankrupt, isn't that a pleasant thought. I also haven't visited the doctor in a while because the price per visit is probably a couple hundred bucks without insurance (and even with insurance there's "copays" or whatever).

At least you have a good job. And good that you're not working for Ubisoft or some shit. Ubisoft has a rancid workplace. And I'm glad you're paid well, hope you're not living like paycheck to paycheck. I'm NOT living paycheck to paycheck myself, saving like a thousand per month or so, since my bf pays most of the rent, so it's decent for me too.

Oof depression, please find a medication for you. Hopefully you get help from a psychiatrist, don't want you trying out those weirdo herb shit and stuff, that'll just cost money... as for a healthier diet, well, try not eating giant gummy bears ;P

Oh, yeah. Here places like Paris region also have crazy rent prices. That was one of the reasons why I moved to Montpellier, I can get a nice 29m² apartment for ~450€/mo. I'm looking for a better apartment tho (namely, with a separate bedroom), but these go for 600-700€/mo or more. I need to really start looking tho, I kinda just called one place and then had a bad burst of depression for unrelated reasons.

And hell, Ubisoft. I have a friend who worked there in Canada, he can attest that it's a shitty place to work at.

As for medication, that's what the venlafaxine is for. it's the antidepressant I was prescribed. So far it seems like it can work, but I'm still dealing with the side-effect insomnia. but it seems to be getting better.

Lion's mane mushroom is supposed to increase NGF and as such help the brain heal and form and shit, tldr it's good for your brain. Can't hurt to give it a try. I'm certainly having wacky dreams, so I think it's working.

Giant gummy bears? Bahaha. I remember that one. Took forever to eat and after a while the taste became a bit weird. I still think they're fun items, but kind of a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

re: family -- I'm going to visit my parents and sister for Christmas. Have anything planned on your side?

Yeah apartment finding doesn't seem really fun. I don't know WHERE to go in this blasted region. Yours sound super cheap and actually livable.

Yeah for Ubisoft, this is why I don't buy their games. Even Mario + Rabbids my interest fell off because Ubisoft as a brand name soured my palette SO much I lost a lot appetite. Mario still looks sweet while dual-wielding but the game? Mmmmmmm....

Work with what the doctor prescribed but yeah if that mushroom does help you I guess I won't push you too much. I'm just a little leery of herb stuff unless the doctor explicitly told me to roll with them.

Oh idk I'm going to visit my mom and dad and sister and maybe my brother will be there. I'll also see my irl friends and I'll get to see my cockatiel again (I miss my sister and my bird the most). Hope we get to eat something nice but I don't want anything TOO fancy, just want to spend time in what I feel is starting to become some memory and a video on a phone rather than a tangible entity, and that's making me feel sad. Aside from my boyfriend, I do feel lonely here. No friends no one to share my memories with except my sister who isn't even here. I have to stick to online to keep my sanity. It's not the worst arrangement, but...

Indeed but California this time has been like mid 20s / 70s ish weather and sunny and partly cloudy. I can't fly within california! And if it weren't for COVID I would've driven the 6 hours down myself! Argh.

I forget USA is so big that driving from one point to another can take forever

like, a state like Texas is as big as France

I'm kinda used to different kinds of scales here, heh

also re: apartment

thinking about going for flatsharing, but I'd have to do it with people I don't know, because no friends around me want to do flatsharing in Montpellier

idk

Potholes! I hit one in the freeway and got a flat tire. Wasn't my car, was the car I was using to deliver for my work, so at least I didn't need to pay anything. Still wasn't fun waiting on a shoulder of a freeway and it's raining outside.

That's what the car said when it blew a tire! Don't worry, the thing got towed and I got crows to look at for a bit.

glad things turned out not completely shitty for you :)

my bike also got a flat tire, which I noticed Thursday in the morning, same day I was planning to use it to go to work because the public transit company was on strike

I remember seeing crows perched on a few bare treetops and the wires in the winter sometime ago while they were all squawking and cawing. They were sitting still too.

It creeped me out for a while.

People really are 28 years old out there, huh?

Helps reinforce that there's still much time to go I suppose :P
