Some things we know so far:

System Requirements
The system requirements for W11 are posted here, with a couple of notable aspects:

• TPM 2.0 is a hard requirement, which not all modern systems meet - including some of Microsoft's own Surface Pro devices, reportedly.
• CPU support is limited to relatively new CPUs at this point in time.

User Interface
The look of the UI skin is being updated with translucent windows. The start menu has been redesigned, accessible from the now (forcibly, currently mandatory) centered taskbar.


Windows Subsystem for Android
Based on Windows Subsystem for Linux, Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) allows for running Android apps on Windows, with support for sideloading APKs. WSA is one of a few ways in which they are continually pushing the Windows Store.

Gaming
Windows 11 provides support for "Auto HDR" for better colors, and DirectX 12 Ultimate, what seems to be a variation of the D3D12 API but with guarantee of some enhancements such as raytracing.

This is everything I'm aware of off the top of my head - I realized we don't yet have a W11 thread, so there we go. There's more details released, of course, but these are most of the ones that people are talking about. If you want to see it for yourself, there's an early leaked build ISO out there - by now, you can also try it legitimately through the Windows Insider program.

WSA is pretty cool, and the new UI looks nice, although I know the centered taskbar is going to cause a storm if it stays un-changeable. The TPM and CPU requirements are going to be even more rough, if those stay the way they are. If this is the case, then perhaps the migration to W11 will be of a much smaller scale than that of W11 or W10. In general, there looks to be little pressure on users to switch - perhaps MS will push an advertising campaign within the W10 OS for users to migrate?

Yeah, this whole thing is a little out of left field. I think these heightened requirements are going to give MS a really hard time getting people to move over. Hell, I see some people still using W7...
