Last view: 1253 days ago 		HP9 the only person who said the ships were small was you. My idea was to have the tiny starshroom be commanding a fleet of giant awesome explorable ships, each completely different from all the others in theme, visuals, organization, etc.

Last view: 1253 days ago 		I was thinking the Gearmo ship should be kinda a saucer shape (like the Dalek ships in Doctor Who sort of) but the outer hull isn't complete so you can see gears and pistons operating inside it.
The Bob-Omb ship would have a bunch of weapons on it, obviously.
The Whittle ship is tough since they don't seem like the type who would go to space, but a more natural setting would seem right for them; maybe a big bio-dome?
The Piantas' ship also could be a floating city. Heck, we could even reuse the Delfino Plaza model, attach some rocket engines to it, and have the Piantas fly the plaza into space!
And there are other types of NPCs that I can't remember right now, but they would have their own unique ship as well.

My idea: Mario starts out his journey with only a small starshroom (3 at very most) and a ragtag crew of toads. As he progresses and helps more people in the cosmos, they (Gearmos, Whittles, Bob-Ombs, etc) join him on his journey with one of their own ships. By the time he reaches the final level, Mario has built up a fleet of starships ready to combat Bowser's forces. Perhaps the final level could even feature the various ships as planets, where the NPCs help Mario reach Bowser!

Reasons why this idea is awesome:
- It fits with the space theme.
- The hub will gradually expand outward rather than simply unlocking new areas of the already-existing hub.
- Each additional NPC ship will be a unique experience; for example, the Gearmos would have a very mechanical ship with some machinery showing, while the Whittles would have a very basic ship with a more natural theme, perhaps even with trees, grass, and water.
- The ships could be used in the final level to tie in the importance of other characters to the outcome of the story.
- It shows a kind of basic story progression, with Mario gaining allies as he helps people he meets.
- Bonus Moral: Help others and they will help you, because that's what friendship is for :3

Glem's plan for a Mega-Starshroom should be here, because if the hub is a few regular Starshrooms at the start...that would be more boring than Starship Mario.
A bunch of different ships for each species...probably not. Just some planets directly lifted from their home galaxy tagging along with the starshrooms, perhaps?
And the final level thing is nice (Final Frontier).

Okay, well maybe not Delfino Plaza itself but instead, a ship that is city-like and beach-like. Maybe something like Miami, Florida on Beach Bowl? Yeah... that is too random.

- Ok fair enough, the Mega Starshroom or some other idea for Mario's ship could work fine here.
- Planets tagging along makes no sense.
- The final level idea doesn't work unless there are other ships :P

Great doesn't mean that it has to be super complex, you know.

Anyway, haven't been posting on this thread much. So this is basically a Comet Observatory-styled hub, instead of Starship Mario-styled, which was boring as fuck and didn't allow you to do anything interesting, while the Observatory was super-awesome with tons of stuff to do?

If it will be Comet Observatory-like, it should still be easier to access. The Red Star made accessing the Comet Obvmsrtvatory easier since they were all those narrow walkways at the top.

Now that I think of it, it is not complex. But maybe it should probably only be alittle bit complex.

Here is how it could possibly go, from largest to smallesr: Mothership --> Mega Starshroom & Starship Mario --> Fleet of small ships.
