Lots of mini parts, with each section representing a world. We on the IRC (HATERS GONNA HATE) have had this idea for a while.
Don't go too overboard like usual with this.

I thought this might have already been decided on like the old site's Exclusive Forum or this site's Exclusive Forum...?

Seems I was completely wrong. I read somewhere (never on any Exclusive so not there) that the hub should be a Mega-Starshroom. If are doing that, then it could be like a really tall mushroom and possibly the beta green grass mushroom in Cloudy Court as shown in the E3 2009 trailer. Also, I heard the story was already decided. Was the cutscene where the hub is created already decided?

None of it's decided HRE, we already agreed to wait till E3 in the first place -.- and maybe not even then. Maybe not at all.
Then again you miss out on stuff on the IRC.
So anyways, what I said on the IRC was that since the event triggers in the hub activate stuff using normal triggers, it can load objects and planets as well, which lead someone, I think grid, to suggest that we should try to figure something out of a mini hub for each world, and at the end of one, the hub for the next appears and as you play through the galaxies, NPCs from each will appear just like on Starship Mario. I think it could be cool, and super creative, but you guys need to figure that out.

Sounds a lot like the Comet Observatory... which I have no problem with because Comet Observatory > Starship Mario. But I do like incorporating those NPC elements as well like SMG2 did.

One of the problems is that it wasn't all streamlined unlike the huns in other Mario games. Let's try to not go overcomplicated in stuff that you would a Red Star to reach the steering wheel and the button to the World Map.

I still think we need starship mario to be part of it, or at least there needs to be a main ship, like the giant starshroom. I'd like a ship that progressively gets surrounded by planets for each world.

Well of course, where else would we put the power source for the grand stars - that blue sphere in the engine room/the beacon in the observatory. I personally think that's the soul of anything. But hm, that's only a minor detail. I personally am gonna still wait until E3 in a week or 2.

So, we can trigger events that add planets and NPCs to the hub?
Probably the Mega-Starshroom at the beginning, with Starship Mario and various planets (their inhabitants wanting to go along to help?) like a planet with Yoshis, joining as the worlds go by. As well as more and more Starshrooms.

Starship could be an area of the Mega-Starshroom like the Trial Galaxies planet is an area of the Comet Observatory.

About the planets:

What we should do is have, for example, a planet that is being rained upon in World 4 and the planet has puddles on it.

In World 6, the planet would no longer have rain and the puddles have dried up. Also in World 6 is a new planet that is made of obsidian with a giant metal tank of who-knows what.

Then in World 7, those two planet appear along with a new planet.

You get the idea. Planets change themes and more planets are added.

That's interesting, I didn't know we could add planets to the home world as the game progresses. I feel like there's something really clever we could do with this, but I don't know what .-.

I liked Glem's idea where more planets would join. But how about we re-dub Starship Mario as essentially a solar system that grows and grows... until it goes Supernova in EotU. Now talk about a plot twist :D

The World 5 Map is supposed to have dying stars. But I guess a supernova in the hub area in World 6 would be cool. The only thing is, using lava or fire might be strange since Mario usually does not die in hubs of the SMG games. But the planets do not have to be fiery or have lava.

Instead of that in World 6, things could just be kept a bit simpler by just having planets change types and introducing new planets. Destroyed planets could be near the warp to World 7, since it is near EoTU.

A supernova? What.
The thing is, all the planets should actually have NPCs living on them. e.g. Yoshis, Gearmos, Star Bunnies, etc.
Not just a few barren rocks.

Um, not only is that overcomplicated, it's not even scientifically accurate. A star wouldn't go supernova just because it has more planets surrounding it.

Should the new hub be sort of home-y like a warm yellow house with a chimney or should it city-ish like Delfino Plaza?

I personally feel that the ship's main areas should be wasily so that no Red Stars are needed to be used as a shortcut. Except of course, the planets that will appear alongside the ship
