while the wii is the main target, i suggest that after it is finished, work on getting a PC version up and running (not so much mobile because who the heck uses a phone to download mods for a wii?) because while this removes the exclusivity, it would still be much more convenient for people. obviously the wii would be the main target and would get updates and stuff first, but the PC version would be there for people to also download mods there.

basically, putting main focus onto a wii version while still adding a PC version would ensure that modtendo! is still useful, while also being available on other platforms.

also, dolphin.

I agree, but keep in mind it's designed to work with Riivolution, so it's unclear how much will transfer to dolphin smoothly.

iyenal, modtendo! will gain more popularity if you add a PC Browser version. It could be a great place for people who's Wii disc reader is broken or disc is broken e.t.c.

Also natnew, what do you mean by "transfer to Dolphin"? If someone's computer is powerful enough, there shouldn't be any change in gameplay. Unless someone's hack crashes on Wii but not on Dolphin.

I mean that Dolphin will only use ISOs, so the mod needs to be converted to one before use.

Making a PC version don't only involves porting an interface and the mod database, that would be easy, but there are also all the backup patching part, which is a pain to configure.

Just download the mods you want on Wii using modtendo!, and after patch your backup using Dolphiilution, which have been done for that. Not too much difficult.
And so, you will not let your Wii collect dust ;)

Please don't continue derailing this thread with modtendo stuff. You can continue the discussion on it's respective thread.

It's really annoying seeing a new post here expecting a pic or video when all it is is a discussion that can be taken on it's respective place.

This is SM64DS, but there's no equivalent thread so...

YOSHI VS BLACK BOMBS (working title)

First star or so, and even then still a WIP. Thoughts?

Yeah Bullet Bills are a good addition since the game is originally way too easy

Are you planning to make levels from scratch too?

Anyway, the story looks interesting and i hope you will finish this!

---

Since sm64ds stuff is posted here now, i'd like to share an ASM hacking test i made a month ago with the old header file (sm64ds.h) and NSMBe. I was basically trying to implement Fire Flower using the Bouncing Lava Bubble object and faced a minor problem.

After that i have been studying mibts' header files and i think they are very powerful. I might do a decent Fire Flower hack someday but i have another ASM hack thing to do before that.

Any tips on how to record desmume with better quality are welcome. I used XSplit Broadcaster for this one.

I'm not planning on adding new levels from scratch, because A) Last time I tried Model Importing it didn't go so well, and B) it's supposed to be a trek through the previous worlds, and seeing what the conflict has caused all over. More info in the soon-to-come thread.

Also, DeSmuMe has a built-in recording feature, in File -> Record AVI. It's what I used in my video, if you need an example. Bonus: It lags the game significantly, but it won't show on video.

How did i miss that

Next time i might use desmume HD for recording, no matter if it lags

I agree that custom levels wouldn't probably work that well with the concept of your hack

No reason to be afraid of model importing tho :)

Why not? GBA tracks in Retro Super Mario Kart style :)
Of course, there's not so much space for all themes, so some themes are combined into one (for example Sky Garden and Ribbon Road in second screenshot)

Also, looks like this ghost block animation is unused in Mario Kart Super Circuit:

For me Chain Chomps and PAC MAN always looked similar, so i just wanted to try out, how Chain Chomps will look with a small texture hack, and this was the result xD

Also happy Easter!

The level has changed a lot since but no work has been done on it lately.

considering this site isn't crazy active, i suppose it'd be fine if i posted this video. i don't wanna be like "Guys!!!! Full Game Mod Coming Out Tomorrow" so i'm trying to keep what i post of this project publicly small, but here shouldn't be too bad.

this isn't final or anything, it was mainly just something so i could get a general idea of what i want to do. i am really proud of the Hungry Luma text, though. that kind of personality for the character is one of my favorites.

also just realized i left the FPS counter in the video. whoops
also also, the pink launch star is supposed to have a more exciting path, but for some reason, it always snaps to just straight in-game. meh.
