Alrighty then!
While NSK did mention this galaxy at one point, I hatched a few ideas (see what I did there?!?! eFTe) this morning and decided to design it!

Comet Chasm Galaxy
Star 1: The Hidden Yoshi Village

Mario flies on to the second galaxy in his adventure, but something is terribly wrong! It appears that this entire galaxy was once inhabited by creatures of all kinds, yet a giant comet had crashed right into the huge planet and wiped out all life! (The shape of the planet is going to be a deformed oval, and the final detailed shape is going to be based off of how the second part of the level is designed) Now, Mario has to reach the other side of this planet to find out what to do. The planet is covered in reddish brown dirt, and there are bones and fossils all over the place. The only enemies here are dry bones that roam the area very lonely. The giant crater is on the other side of the planet, but the impact created cracks sprouting from that crater all over the planet. These cracks act as obstacles, and if Mario falls in, he lands in tar that acts as poison goop, or in other words, faces a certain death! This section of the level should not take too long, for it is not the main focus of the galaxy. The music is going to be very quiet, with a slow melody coming from a xylophone and some soft drums in the background. The point of this section is to contrast with what appeared to be a lively past, for while the planet is quite dark, the sky is bright and seems to hold a happy feel.

Mario reaches the other side of this planet after navigating through some mounds of dirt, jumping over crevices, and making it past dry bones. When he gets to this section of the planet, he notices a small hole behind the giant crater that appears to be man-made. This hole is just big enough for him to jump down, and land in a dark, narrow dirt path underground. When he does this, the music completely changes to a lively tune. Mario follows this short path, and at the end of it, the view is overwhelming. It seems as if the Yoshis survived and built a giant village underground! While the environment is dirt filled, these little guys seem to have made a colorful civilization to live in. The first NPC Mario encounters is a Red Yoshi, who says, "Wow! We don't really get visitors here for obvious reasons, so it's exciting to see someone like you. In fact, we could really use some help at the moment. You see, while we like visitors, we've got some guys here that are causing trouble. (Camera turns to show some piranha plants) Do you think you could teach them a lesson for us? If you want, we've got someone here who can help you out. (Camera turns to Yoshi egg)"

Mario opens the egg, and his buddy Yoshi pops out to help his friend. (This level should be reason enough to keep all egg yoshis green in the game) Then, the two partners start to travel through town. They have to go in houses and navigate through all sorts of plant life to kill all of the piranha plants. There are little cracks and holes like above-ground filled with tar pits that Mario has to avoid in order to survive. Once Mario kills all of the plants in this area, the next section can be reached. You see, half of the planet's underground holds the village, but the other half is a dangerous lava filled section that can only be crossed by using rocks that float on top. Mario and Yoshi have to cross over these rocks to reach the end. Sometimes rocks can only be reached by using flower wheels and hopping on top of flying enemies such as paragoombas. At the very end of this section is a bigger rock surrounded by lava, and right in the middle is a spiky piranha planet that has to be killed using the green ball plants. Once he is defeated, a power star comes out and the mission is complete!

I know this design is not very detailed, but I wanted to give you guys an opportunity to see where I am going with this design. Feedback is appreciated, and I will use it to improve the design! Thanks,

-MC

Why'd you make an entirely new thread for this?

Anyways, this seems pretty nice.

Instead of tar, it should be a black area that is a pit, like in Pianta Village.

I like that idea a lot, how even the life has been driven from this place from the impact.

PLOT TWIST2. I like that a lot.

They have to go in houses

Eh, IDK how well that would work out in terms of camera and such. I mean, it would work in Misty Peaks since the cabin is supposed to be huge, but lots of huge houses here to make that practical doesn't seem that practical in and of itself.

and navigate through all sorts of plant life to kill all of the piranha plants. There are little cracks and holes like above-ground filled with tar pits that Mario has to avoid in order to survive. Again, eh, I don't think Yoshi Star had anything hurting for the planets besides enemies, so I think that much should be consistent. I do like the idea of hopping across platforms with the flower grapples and such, I could even see something like that in Yoshi Star so we should totally have that much, but I think lava is going a bit far.

Instead of houses, what about tents? They would be great trampolines and their interiors would be nice hiding places for Mario from enemies.

That underground Yoshi village reminds me of a particular SMW ROM hack...
Anyway, definitely wasn't expecting it, but it's great.
It's great, except perhaps replacing the lava and OHKOs with mud, making it just very annoying to fall in (only 2nd galaxy...)
Maybe the last section should be scaling a mound of debris the comet forced up on the opposite side of the planet.

Only thing, it would be better if there was a single crack that's much bigger than the others...descending into that chasm would work well as a Star 2. (if Mario falls, he'll land in dark matter covering the comet at the bottom.)

But, amazing. Try for a Star 2, and a second draft. :D

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it's usually an oncoming express train.

Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys.

Platforming on the comet in the crack is interesting. It should have a few areas on it that have shallow water and possibly water fountain geysers. It is always hilarious to see Mario get pushed up by a foutain geyser. The comer itself could also have its own giant crack. Who woudn't want to venture inside the comet? The crack could be a spiral one that leads to a room in the center of the comet. The Power Star could be in the center of the comet.

EDIT: Should there be an upside-down chasm in this galaxy?

In my opinion, this galaxy should make use of the wooden platforms that Yoshi needs to pull with his tongue. Also, Launch Star Berries should be used at least omce here, possibly making a Launch Star leading across the high ground or chasm or something.

I still think this.
Some new things though:
-I think the Yoshis shouldn't have individual houses for practical reasons. Them living in large groups and big tents, perhaps.

-the story, perhaps: the comet caused the infestations, and other enemies are crawling out of the chasm it caused (Star 1), so Mario has to destroy them from their source and descend into the chasm (Star 2).

I don't there should be a story :/. However, I do like the idea of enemies crawling out of the chasm. Destroying the source in Star 2, however, sounds too much of a story again for me.

It's just a few lines of NPC dialogue...
