I'm still in shock. When I first saw this, I instantly thought "FAKE! lol teh Gen 3 fanboys".
And then I saw that the video was posted by Nintendo's official channel....

One of the reasons of why I'm confused is because of this random sudden announcement. I thought saving this for E3 would benefit Nintendo more......

That guy could have been referring to a different Pokemon game. It's unlikely, but it would just seem odd to introduce a completely new story and region when the games are being presented as Ruby and Sapphire remakes, even having "Ruby" and "Sapphire" in their titles.


I believe it's still Hoenn, but different in like how Unova was different between BW1 and BW2. a few new towns/perhaps gyms, some old places have changed drastically and there is a completely new storyline :)

Personally I'd buy both if I were you.

Starting with X/Y would be a good idea so you can check if you like the Gen 6 style, and if you do you'll most likely just decide to buy Omega Sapphire/Alpha Sapphire since you'll realize how good they are.

If you're really skeptical though and think you're not going to like them but just want to try one, then it comes to preference. If you're okay with probably meeting some of the same characters and going to the same places as in GBA Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald then go for Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (NOTE said characters and places will not be identical to the GBA versions naturally, and the game will still feel fresh, like HG/SS did to people who played G/S/C)

If originality and freshness is very big concern to you however then go with X/Y :)

This is pretty much what I thought, the remakes will probably be very similar to the original games, so i might go for x/y. I saw that there's about 100 more pokemon in x/y than original ruby/sapphire, which might not be a decision maker for you guys, but it is for me :P
I think I'll just wait a while, at least after E3 and see how things unfold
