1. you get access to more forums restricted to logged-in users. which have more stuff.
2. you can engage: you can post, and since a mini-community appeared, you can finally talk!
3. you can see what i write: i usually write about myself in The basement, which is a forum restricted to logged-in users.
i don't have much reasons, but do it anyway.

protip, it's not a very good idea to publicly advertise the restricted forums

they are restricted for a reason, and that reason is not to get more users to register

(tho admittedly it's not a very big entry barrier either)

advertising them in itself lowers the barrier of entry, since lurkers may not necessarily know those forums are there at all

), you can deduce they are there, when some users with good reputation who are unlikely to have their posts deleted, often have their last post in a restricted forum, like kiki, or have their last view in one.
EDIT: A "risk" of advertizing the restricted forums is that it may make people register only so they can lurk in the restricted forums, essentially making those forums useless.
