I have significant board nostalgia, including the leeeengthy messages people tend to make due to the format and the lack of quick reply, unlike Discord.
Speaking of Discord, it's veeeery much engineered for rapid messaging in the form of trashy, small messages. Take bot channels for example: to almost all users, the messages generated are absolutely worthless and noone would care if they got deleted automatically after a while. Boards arent like that: there may be a week or a month in between replies, and nobody really minds. You get to make a wall of text and others will also reply with a wall of text on their own. One reason I miss boards is due to Discord. It sucked the life out of tiny spaces like this, which is a bummer. I won't pretend it's the only factor- game modding took a violent nosedive for a while and people struggled to kickstart activity ever since. But they never lost their appeal evidently, because people still visit them years after they've gone effectively silent. |

Also I seem to recall you had another layout before that was like, black with green square or smth? Maybe it was just a blargboard theme, I dunno Dyou reckon I can somehow rope more people in here |

You could be extra and make a layout that changes based on your post ID

Posted by Thierry I didn't know you got unbanned, welcome back. But I do agree. As convenient as Discord is and how I'm grateful for the friends it has brought me along the way, I cannot deny how much boards have impacted my life and how it felt great to have actual conversations that I felt were much more thought out and something that didn't make me feel like I was wasting time. Discussions can considered be a "waste of time" no matter what, but I feel like most of the conversations I had on boards were much more insightful and thoughtful compared to Discord messages where most of my messages are just "Wtf" and "Why". Granted, I do think I miss boards because I wasn't always in constant communication back then. I never really had access to internet compared to how I do now, with mobile phones and stuff. But back then I had to wait until I got home after school, and I vividly remember browsing boards like this and RVLution on my Wii U. Unironically the Wii U shaped my web browsing habits for a good bit. Also helped me watch lots of anime lol. I doubt forums like these will ever be common, bumpin, and active nowadays like they used to be (although I look at forums like Marioboards and they look like they're doing alright), but seeing sites like this still around makes me glad, as it lets me relive an experience that'll probably never happen again. And in an actual easily browsable format too! SMWCentral and Bulbagarden are highly active boards. NSMBHD... well, there are days that no one posts, but generally, that board's doing OK. It isn't dead. Kuribo64... well, you can logout, login again a week later and no new posts have been submitted. Which sux if you need help when it comes to SM64DS hacking *cough*because I do need help with a SM64DS hacking topic*cough* and nobody helps you.
