Posted by Swingball In terms of words and grammar they're all very similar, but Norwegian is definitely easiest to pronounce for English speaker. Source: I am an English speaker who knows a bit of all three. ____________________ Can you burn a Luigi board? |

I speak British English, not that warped stuff you Americans claim to be English! (Jokes)
I want to learn Japanese, however. ![]() |

Isn't Esperanto like just a made-up language thing?

It's a made-up language specifically tailored to be a lingua franca of some sorts for people to use. The elephant in the room here is of course that English has taken this role since quite some time. The main "selling point" of Esperanto is that it is not natively spoken by anyone, so unlike English, it doesn't give any speakers a certain "advantage". Paradoxically, Esperanto is starting to receive a small share of native speakers, reversing its efforts to be a neutral language. ____________________ |

Being a lousy American I don't speak any other language fluently. I'm currently learning Spanish and I know a little bit of German since I took classes on that in Middle School.
It was invented by someone during the 40s/50s I think because the person who made it was in Poland during the post WWII era and the people in Poland who spoke different languages had a really hard time communicating., so he invented his own language and basically just threw it out there for anyone to use. The only reason I know that much is because my dad speaks it. |

Здравствуй!
I'm self-teaching myself Russian and I love it. I can transcribe Cyrillic to Latin (all I did was just wrote a bunch of Mario characters names in Russian and tried to memorize what each letter stood for) and I'm starting to pick up vocabulary and I'm itching to learn grammar. I'm doing this in the spare time I'm waiting for my twin to finish her classes so I guess I put some free time to use. XD |

Posted by Sammy Esperanto was invented at the end of the 19th century, long before WWII was even a thing. I'm very sorry to be a little language bitch, but this is my studying field - and stuff I have to know for my upcoming exams. ____________________ |

Chocolate and OK are two universal words, meaning that they sound and spell almost same across most languages.
Are there any other words like this? ____________________ Netplay is a language we all speak. Here’s my Discord. Kinda constructed now where we talk about whatever and lounge around on weekends. https://discord.gg/CqMArxq |

Some of those words are "cognates", where they sound similar across different languages because it's either they have similar roots (in Russian's case with Latin and Greek) or the item is a foreign object to them so they adapted the word to their language.
And yes, in Russian, coffee is called "кофи", which is the same sound we use. Even in Chinese, it's called "ka fei" (咖啡). It's mostly because coffee is a foreign drink to these cultures, so they just borrowed the word into their language. Salad is another one. It's called "салат" in Russian and "sha la" (沙拉) in Chinese. |

初めまして、マリオと申します。
日本語を話します。あなたも日本語を話せますか? (Nice to meet you, my name is Mario. I speak Japanese. Can you also speak Japanese?) Young people always run forth bravely, in order to seek out as yet unseen things.
Adults run forth in a wandering fashion, in order to seek out what they've lost. Check me out on Tumblr! |

My school offers Italian as a second-language option, so I have that. As with most High-School languages, I'm not exactly fluent, but I could be much worse. ____________________ |
