Social democracy is a compromise between two parties whose interests are opposite (bosses vs employees, tenants vs landlords...).

See how it's going in France, Macron wants to destroy it all.

On the other hand, typical militant demands are more socialism (raise minimum legal pay, lower minimum work hours, etc, more protection for employees). But I think we need to go further than that.

More protection for one party is detrimental to the other party. If you make employees harder to fire, bad employees can more easily put small companies into trouble (extreme socialism would lead to only megacorporations surviving, pretty much). On the other hand, making them easier to fire results in more abuse from bosses who are abusive. You don't want to live with the constant fear of losing your job -- what basically allows you to live within this fucked up system.
