well that's weird because Mario Kart DS is known to run fine

unless there's a different ROM version that doesn't work

This ROM is basically the Japanese version, and I only applied a single music hack to it, as seen here (hence the filename):

But neither the region, nor the single music hack should affect whether melonDS can or can't run it, right?

ROMs have difference across regions, sometimes there are code differences. it'd be odd, but you never know.

and using ROM hacking tools can have unintended consequences.

also, surely may be because you are using WINE?

well if the hack runs on hardware, it should run in a good emulator

Why should I use Wine here?
I used a Windows 7 VM to replace the SSEQ in the SDAT file, then NSMBe (via Mono) to replace the SDAT file in the NDS ROM, a melonDS has a native Linux version also...

This video was captured off real hardware.

this thread is kinda dead, but I got some questions about the local multiplayer feature. now I didn't test it out myself (not yet sure how to) so sorry if this has been largely answered already.

-is there two instances or just one when running local multiplayer? can you control both at once?
-is there a way to have the second instance use different keys?

the reason I'm asking is, I'd like to try something.
you probably know of programs such as Teamviewer that allow remote control of keyboard or mouse input; all while live feeding video output to the recipient.

so technically, you'd be able to make some sort of online multiplayer, hosted by the one allowing keyboard control through the app.
there would be some latency lag to the one receiving the video feed, but it would be fun to try out.

1) There are 2 instances
2) Bind the joystick controls to control the second window while controlling one

The lag is too bad, mainly input lag. Trust me, I've tried this before

thanks for the quick reply.
it's still worth a try, I've had this idea since mullti was implemented.

regardless, the point of this is not actual playing, just fun experiment. so long as the connections are not outright terrible, the latency lag shouldn't be a major issue.

No like Mario VS Luigi, for example, I couldn't control Mario from a remote computer. Maybe he would walk like one step per min but it's unplayable

i was messing around with download play and suddenly audio in the whole os stopped working

funnily enough, windows 10's troubleshooter started automatically but ofc it didn't do shit

Reinstalling drivers was enough to fix that though

I fail to see how melonDS would be responsible for that, it doesn't do anything nonstandard as far as audio is concerned (regular SDL streaming, no more no less)

I had a computer once upon a time, it was a packard bell with an intel p4 dual thread, something broke fundamentally in the circuitry of that ancient system, the SMBIOS in the device tree was unknown! and so pretty much every function broke down with bluescreens, and wifi / audio / gpu were unidentified devices..

I hear a lot of people actually have rootkits installed into their BIOS chips.

I see your reply and bring another post from my DSi. For me it seems to complain about every cert under the sun. Some websites can't load on here. I think the keys are too big? I had that problem in a Windows 98 VM.
