That's why I said we need to test it. And yes, that's the whole reason we have this galaxy in the first place was because of Martboo's video with multiple Marios xD

I remember seeing a video of 4 Marios (I think Martboo made it). Maybe we could use that programming as a base?

I have left a comment on Glem3's profile asking him about this matter since the concept is very difficult to work with.

Edit: Glem said he is fine with scrapping the clone concept and that it could be used in only one section.

I didn't realize the clone concept was already approved by Glem...

My idea was only to have it in one section, i.e. the mirror maze

And if you think about it, this is a minor galaxy. I'm thinking a similar level format to the bubble galaxies in SMG1. The level could be simply two planets that are both mirror mazes (with the second including clones)

I still like the original idea (though like I said, we can scrap it). I took the problems into account, but I DID offer a solution. So long as the two levels that the marios play through are identical and there are no checkpoints, the level will work. Build the level, copy it, and place it on the side. Make sure they use IDENTICAL collision, and nothing should screw up. The two marios should act in the EXACT same way. Then, we'll have the camera at an angle, focused on one mario with the other in the background. The "mirror" will reveal hidden invisible platforms or show that certain platforms aren't actually there.

Please, can someone make a simple test level? Just a simple path that we can copypaste and place side by side... I'll try to make one once I get home.

Edit: Also, I believe we can technically make the level literally act like a mirror by making the Mario on the other side have an X scale value of -1 instead of 1. I'd need to test if that changes the direction in which he turns, but it would be cool to see if it does.

This is probably the 3rd time or something that I've pointed this out, but doesn't the concept feel identical to Crystal Palace from Paper Mario 64?

Now sadly there are not a lot of images showing the concept, but here's one which somehow shows it:

As you can see there are 2 Marios (and a mirror splitting them), and while that particular image doesn't show it, normally the mario behind the mirror does everything that the mario in front does, and just like in Glem's suggestion some paths are visible only on the other side of the mirror (the other side than the one the camera focuses on).

Arrgh If you really wanna see why it's the same as the ideas here and see why we can get really inspired from it then go to a youtube walkthrough and see for yourselves :3

I agree with Glem that we only need a path for the clone part. That seems to be the easiest way for preventing glitches.

I don't get how all of you think it's glitchy. The only thing that could affect the other Marios is stuff being slightly off, which is really hard to actually obtain.
Even then it would just make the other Mario be slightly off, there would be no glitching.

That's what I meant. Even being slight off can mess up things if it builds up over time (like trekking over the part that messes you up ovet and over again).

Well like I just said, anything that would mess it up would be super hard to obtain since you can so easily mirror stuff without any problems. It's the same exact model. You guys just want an excuse to not use it IMO.

No, it IS a glitchy concept NWP. We need to test to see exactly how the other mario reacts to objects/if he can be flipped. For example, we can't have any NPCs/text explaining what to do in the galaxy, since the second mario doesn't read signs/read text, that's one glitch.

Why would we need to not read text? We just need the player to read it, you probably shouldn't even see the other mario except maybe with Observatory-style cameras where it zooms way out when you stand in a certain spot. Then you'd memorize the route and act upon it.

Plus we could easily have the other mario spawn using a switch after you read a sign to explain the concept. Maybe not both together, but some kind of a switch to start the mirroring somehow.

I think it is that the second Mario "stands around" or something when you attempt to read a sign. And both Marios must hit a switch or there will be a glitch because the other Mario became off-balanced since it did not hit a switch also.
