As usual when I'm around 30-40% done with a design I'll post some progress.

I've had this in mind for a long time now and now I'm posting what I've drawn.

Planet 1:
One this planet Mario lands and there are whittles and gearmos. They tell Mario How Bowser invaded their solar system (galaxy). And how their planet happened to survive Bowser's machine, but now got hurdled into deep space. The goal of the planet it to climb the central tower in the level and catch a launch star into the solar system.

Planet 2:
Mario lands on the bottom planet in this drawing. He must platform on small chunks of the planet while avoiding lava pillars. He then lands on the large tube and walks along it until he gets to the other side. On the tube are enemies such as goombas and dry bones. The second planet in the chain is partially broken up. Mario will have to fight some burn bits on the way. On the third planet in the chain mario will have to fight some piranha plants on his way to the tube. The final tube goes to the extractor.

I can literally picture this in the game. This is some outstanding concept art.

Woah, very nice art, considering you didn't use a ruler or compass.

Wow, great!
Interesting starting planet.

Perhaps the planets on the end of the tube could have half gravity (gravigen sucking tube attached), if it's practical. It'd be a nice touch. If not, maybe double gravity in a section near the end?

Bullet Base design-
Final Frontier- (collab)

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it's usually an oncoming express train.

Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys.

Maybe there could be a section with puzzles where Mario can modify the strength of a (probably flat) area's gravitational pull, using switches or something similar?

I have wondered about that, whether we can modify the strength of gravity.

If we can it would be cool to fight Bowser there :D!

I have been making a rough model of the starting planet as I am thinking this is going to be the next focus galaxy.
So here are some pics of that (all 4 sides and the top).
Made them links because I could not get them big enough in the preview.
Bit of confusion when looking at the picture above.

Confusion at design as the 2 views of the planet posted above seemed to have some differences.

Red was the broken tower (not different).
Yellow are the 2 walls next to it (not different).
Green a block(?) (not different).
Blue is a seemingly missing outcrop of a ridge.
Black are the two triangle planes which have seemed to swap locations.

Due to this I was not sure which of the 2 to follow precisely.
So do tell which of the 2 to follow.
Please note that the textures are just placeholders so I could see what was what.
