If you would like, there isn't anything stopping you, the worst thing that could happen is that it isn't used.

Maybe Star 1 could be ascending the mountain, like rocky slope-->rocky cliff-->ice cave-->ice cliff-->summit+star.
Then Star 2 could be sliding and skating all the way back down again, but on a different path.
I dunno.

I realize it's probably annoying that I haven't done anything yet, but still have power in the design. I'll try to make a written today

Ok, here is my massive idea post.

Planets -

Snow Mountain Planet - A large mountain planet that one large cutaway for an ice slide spiraling around it. The cutaway is an ice cave, and that is reserved for the second mission. This mountain is primarily in use for the first mission. It is a more realistic looking mountain than like the one from Freezeflame. Many platforming obstacles await as this icy mountain is climbed. The first star awaits at the summit.

Ice Slide Starting planet - A small base near the summit (where you collect star 1) of the mountain. It cannot be reached from the summit, but you travel here when you start mission 2. This planet is DIRECTLY connected to the Ice Slide, which goes around and even through the mountain.

Ice Slide (not really a planet, but it never touches the mountain directly) This is a lengthy slide made of ice. The collision properties would be exactly that of a normal slide, there would be no slipperyness. No Gravity Either. Even if you fall off this slide and on to the mountain, it is instant death. The slide constantly goes around the mountain and gets harder - and even goes through the ice cave that takes a large chunk out of the mountain's bottom. After the cave, it continues to move away from the mountain until it reaches a small platform.

Slide Bottom - somewhat far away from the mountain, this platform is the end of the slide. Upon entering this platform, there is a launch star nearby. This launch star will angle you downwards as you pass through a frozen pipe, and enter the final (skating) planet.

Pipe - a simple pipe used in Star 2 that Mario goes through on his launch star from the Slide Bottom to the Skating planet.

Skating planet - If it is possible, gravity could be incorporated here and make this level have halfpipes while ice skating (that would be a very fun and innovative idea). But otherwise, this could just be a simple, flat, surface where there are many holes, and you have to ice skate to dodge them. ALTERNATIVE - a star ball section wouldn't be a bad idea here either.

Star 1: To the top of the Icy Peak - Mario starts at the base of the Mountain planet. The path upward has him completely ignore the large ice cave going through it. This is a "Climb the Mountain" Type level, and lives up to the name Misty Peaks. Goombas, Ice Bats, Lil' Burs are all trying to Stop Mario from Jumping and Running to the top to reach his goal. This mission would not rely on gimmicks - it would be old-SM64 Mountain climbing.

Star 2: The Deeper you go, the colder it gets - Mario starts at the slide top planet. He makes his way down the slide, which is the first half of the mission. Most of slide is simple sliding action, but once you get into the Mountain's ice cave, icicles will fall all over the place, making for a more intense experience. Then, the slide starts getting smaller and smaller (similar to the Slipsand Mini Slide) until you reach the slide base. Then, a launch star will take you through a frozen pipe until you reach the skating planet. This will be the first "True Skating platforming challenge" for Mario, as he will have to skate to avoid all the obstacles. A star ball or skating halfpipe challenge could happen here too.

Visual design -

For Star 1 I am thinking a background like THIS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxhjBBm0mEU (pink but still daytime)

For Star 2, it should be at night. with a starry sky.

Just putting an alternative idea out there. If Glem Likes these ideas, he can use ideas from many sources.

I would rather like this galaxy to have a moody atmosphere. Like, when it snows IRL, the sky turns that kind of grey, and it blends with the snow quite well. That's what I imagine for the background and atmosphere and such.

I think a pink background would work really well for this galaxy IMO.

Misty Peaks Galaxy Level Design
Star 1: Conquer the Black Diamond

Mario lands on a giant planet in front of a large log cabin. Mario can enter this, and inside are star bunnies and a fireplace. This cabin has no purpose except for decoration, and a few little extras (maybe a 1 up soewhere) Outside of this cabin is a big ski resort, with snow everywhere. Behind the cabin is a huge mountain, Mt. Misty. You can tell that this mountain is meant for platforming, and your view ends at the top. What lies behind the peak is a mystery.... for now....

Unfortunately, the lowest ledge to start the climb is too high up to reach, and the only way to get there is via the ski lift. However, the lift entrance is at one end of the giant planet. (You start in the middle. The other half is behind the mountain) The only way to get to the entrance is down the "Bunny slope" (Pun intended? xP) The bunny slope is a slide that looks like a ski slope, and is not very steep. The snow curves up on each side, so Mario can't fall off. However, there are obstacles the player has to jump over and "ski" around, such as trees, fallen logs, and classic ski fences. Once Mario reaches the bottom, the slope ends at the lift entrance. There is a toad in winter clothes who says "Sorry Mario, but the lever that turns on the lift won't budge! It's frozen solid!" Our hero realizes he has to jump from chair to chair himself, with the risk of falling down off the planet. While the difficulty level does increase here, it is not W6 difficult. There are some paragoombas, and a magikoopa near the end. Now, once Mario has reached the top of the lift, he has the huge mountain to summit....

-Checkpoint- This mountain is HUGE. Even bigger than Freezeflame.... this is because all of the platforming takes place on one side of the mountain. At the top, Mario has reached Misty Peak, and another toad congratulates Mario for the accomplishment. He expresses his fear of how to get down the mountain, however. The only way down is the extreme, super steep slope that has awaited Mario on the other side of the monster. Not only is there a risk of falling, but there are rocks and trees that stand in his way down the slope. If Mario can get past the drop, he reaches the part where the slide begins to level out (It's still steeper than the bunny slope) If the player is skilled enough, they can hit a checkpoint at the bottom of the drop.

Now that the drop has been conquered, Mario finds himself inside a dense forest, still traveling at high speeds! The forest is very thin, so Mario must avoid the trees inside, while not falling off the edge. The trees will be strategically placed so that Mario has to come close with death a few times. Then, the trees become less dense, but the path thins even more! Now Mario must turn left and right, reminded of rainbow road from MKDD xP

Eventually, the slope widens, and the slide ends. Mario gets his power star, and the extreme action is over..... for now...........

Hmm... not bad. I would like a bit more of the ice aspect of the snow.

Save that for the other ice galaxies that really are ice galaxies. this is supposed to be focusing on snow. I think it's perfect, we just need some concept art and we can start modeling if it is approved.

No one likes icy skiing

NWP I can do some art tonight

That would be good if you can draw stuff tonight, it would give us an idea of how it would look.

I think you mean drawn designs SSL XP

And yes, I'm currently working on some art right now, specifically the climb up, and I thought...

"Hmmm... I COULD use the cloud flower to allow for cloud platforming here (MISTY peaks) but not only is this just after Sky High, using the cloud flower would defeat the purpose of the challenge..."

So I said.... "Wait, what if we had a power up that gave Mario the ability to walk on clouds?"
If we took away the ability to create clouds from the flower, and change Mario's look we have a new power up! Now, this seems boring, right? A power up that only allows Mario to walk on clouds, but think of it this way. We can make ANY object act like a cloud, so there is actually a lot we could do with this... thus, I present, Light Mario!
This power up allows Mario to walk on a cloud without it disappearing, but takes away abilities such as flying or cloud making in order for it to be fitting in more than cloud and bee galaxies. It also disappears when water is touched, so be careful.
