My third Wii U Gamepad charger has just bit the dust. These things are not as durable as they should be, I have never had this much trouble with a fucking charger... The DS and, 3DS chargers don't break so easily so why do the Wii U Gamepad chargers!? I mean come on, you can't even buy these things in stores you can only buy them online that's bullshit! You can't bend the wire on these things even one meter without it getting a short in it! Nintendo really needs to fix this.

The question is, what are you doing so the charger breaks?

I have mine plugged to the base charger and its been a year and it still works.

I just literally plugged it to the base adapter back when I opened the wii u, and I have never touched it again.

I was wondering the same thing, Chargers shouldn't break by themselves.
Especially while having experience as a Network Administrator (2010-2012), it's impossible for me to believe that.
Back in that time, a single School delivered around 45 broken Laptop Chargers every month, which they claim they all broke by themselves, while we at the Office used the exact same Chargers for years, and we kept waiting for those to break.

Then the Boss went to that School, to check it out by himself, and it turned out the pupils break them systematically, by dragging them over the floor, hitting other pupils with their Chargers, stepping on the cables, etc.

The only thing I can think of is that I just play a lot... I never take the charger out of my room and, I don't really step on the wire very much at all really. When my first charger broke I rewired it and, made a frankenstin of a charger that worked for 6 months then gave out. The voltage is too low to shock you, so if the wire coming from the adapter touches you, you won't feel anything. Unless you cut the wire that's connected to the wall outlet plugin then you are probably going to die or, get a trip to the hospital if you're lucky.

I'm super rough with mine, but it still works, and I've had my Wii U for around 2 years. It is breaking though. I think the charger is less durable than the 3DS or DS ones for some reason.

Are you sure what's coming out of your wall is a safe current?
