Maybe it's all convoluted for a reason, so one can figure it out. Though I subscribe to Hanlon's razor, where I assume the owner is just incompetent.

Javascript in general is a pretty bad language nowadays because of the bloat and dependancy rampancey that has come about recently. It honestly frightens me that some devs are legitimatley considering using electron to make webapps as desktop apps, because thats what the desktop needs, more slow and bloated ui kits and requirement heavy scripting languages.

I never liked Javascript to begin with, the code is really hard to read, and code you made yourself often doesn't work, even though it's all correct.

I personally oppose the use of Javascript, unless explicitly required (like when making a chat web app, for example).

Bump, because I came across yet another web trend, that really needs to die.

You know those ads inside phone apps?
Now some of them include audio also now, they play automatically, and there's no real way to stop it, unless you mute your phone entirely...
Why the fuck?!

I can understand the ads you see on buildings to make lots of sound, but you wouldn't expect it in phone apps...

www is pointless anyway

Even more pointless (and horrible to look at) when it's www.subdomain.realdomain.com. And when someone puts www in their email address, like www.nekholm@hotmail.com. Why would you do that!?

I think he means he wouldn't like when that site would have been called "www.melonds.kuribo.net", which is understandable, as it's more typing, and looks uglier at the same time.

I don't really understand his point about email addresses, though, I've never seen anyone put "www." in front of an email address before.
Not to mention that emails and subdomains are 2 completely different subjects.

As Yami said, I meant that it's ugly and pointless to put www. before a subdomain. Unless it's a short domain name. www.kuribo64.cjb.net doesn't look that bad, but www.kuribo64.staplebutterswebsite.net looks horrible.

www. as part of an email address is, fortunately, very uncommon, but I've seen a few.

Many weeks ago, I've registered a domain name called "questionable.website", but it only works with the sub domain called: http://some.very.questionable.website/

This was done on purpose, and serves solely as a file host for all our server admins (me included).
That being said, don't expect anything useful to see on the front page.

I remember seeing a site years ago that used www.www.mydomain.com or some ungoldy abomination like that. Thankfully I never saw it again.

Looks at this horrible choice of colours!
What were thy thinking...?

I don't know about you, but something tells me there's a bigger problem here,
and it isn't just "technical"...

"modernizing" websites and fitting everything into one page, so there's a lot of scrolling involved

also, study.com refuses to work and is stuck in some web animation, which I think is a type of replicating browser functionality

Updating often makes the site more and more unusable. Smogon, for instance, is a nightmare to navigate through its massive Pokemon lists and that it doesn't support all browsers is a sign of terrible web design.

Check the list below

http://www.smogon.com/dex/sm/pokemon/

Snopes is another example of being "updated" with a "sleek" look but also takes much longer to load.

It's "updating" like this made me so opposed to people claiming that QuackWatch and 4chan need this "updating". Who knew "updating" would trigger such revulsion in me? "Updates" like these make me appreciate simplicity in Kuribo64 for sure.

https://gamebanana.com/

The site now has the "load more button" infinite scroll crap that makes really hard to find older mods.

https://gamebanana.com/skins/games/5547

Mario has, what, 200+ skins, so have fun.

Sure, there's a search function but what if you just want to browse, especially trying to find some old stuff you might've missed?

edit: to be fair, there is a pagination navigation at the top, but they didn't seem to bother putting it at the bottom too.

I have a screen recording of Twitter mobile webapp infinitely scrolling when there's no content to load, pushing the bottom of the page a few pixels further.

Dumbasses.

I can't even load Twitter from my phone, which is pretty annoying.

I think the only "modernization" new update I like so far is Steam. It does take time getting used to compared to the old web browser though.
