Infinite scrolling
Like, is regular paging not cool anymore? Infinite scrolling is cool for the first few 'pages' of content. Wow, it loads more as I scroll down, cool. But if you need to view an old entry, you find yourself scrolling and scrolling for hours, unless you realize you have missed your entry (or unless your browser crashes because the page has grown too big-- sure, it loads more contents, but it doesn't unload old contents). Using AJAX to load whole pages (when clicking links and such) What's the deal with that? Why do they need to replicate the browser's functionality? This is a bottomless well of issues. For example, on Youtube, you search for a video. You scroll down the list, and click a video. You want to go back. It remembers your scroll position on the previous page, sure... but it tries to apply it BEFORE the previous page has loaded, making it useless. Sure, that's Youtube coding, no surprise. But there's also the thing that browsers are able to cache old pages, to some extent, so going back shows you the old page without making requests (and shows you what you had entered in fields if there were any). This type of AJAX page loading completely bypasses the browser's caching logic. Not only do they step on the browser's toes, but they also manage to cancel its functionality. Generally, overusing AJAX Have you ever noticed glitches when posting on GBAtemp (or probably any Xenforo board)? You submit your post, it appends the post via AJAX, all cool... but half the time it also duplicates the thread's last few posts. I have no problem with AJAX functionality when it's coded right. But when it's borderline useless AND they mash together shitty buggy Javascript, they need to just stop. Is this board less usable because posting takes you to a new page instead of appending posts via AJAX? Nope. The HTTPS bandwagon How could I have forgotten about it. HTTPS makes sense when you're sending sensitive shit, like bank account credentials. But what sense does it make for a random messageboard or blog? What's the point of encrypting every damn thing? Believing your data are safe from the NSA? They don't even care about you. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Posted by StapleButter I could list more : • Advertisers. • People who are practically getting at your feet to buy their useless product. • Automatic response machines. • Spam that is randomly piled up in your email's Inbox. • Annoying businessman who constantly call you. The whole world became infested with advertisements. I don't think there's much we can do about it. ![]() <Silvreus>I am a random person…

Posted by StapleButter Ever heard of vBulletin? It's even Glitchier than XenForo, even though it uses fewer AJAX (is it true?). |

Also when "switch to desktop version" is hidden on mobile so you are forced to use the inferior mobile version. Relatedly you have to practically use the mobile version of YouTube on a phone because the desktop version has the search bar scroll of your screen for whatever reason.
And then there's the good old use of Flash. ____________________ Super Mario LOLand Thanks to kaj for helping to port my Acmlmboard 2.5 layout to Acmlmboard 2.064! |

Youtube is on that way. Pretty much video exists in HTML5 in all possible resolutions by now, so they could as well stop calling HTML5 experimental and drop Flash already.
Besides, not sure how that'll last given their coding skills, but the HTML5 player works fine. The Flash one is a pile of shit and keeps glitching for whatever reason. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

That's simply a matter of visiting the right Site, and not believing all those YouTube Videos out there. |

Mobile sites that have ridiculously small text and disable zooming are incredibly annoying, and it's even worse when it's not easy to get the desktop version or they ingore the option in the browser to request the desktop version. How the fuck am I supposed to use your site when I can't read the text? |

Well, this is more on one's own computer than on the web, but why have arrow keys been replaced by the WASD keys? I mean, arrow keys make more sense. ![]() ![]() ____________________ Super Mario LOLand Thanks to kaj for helping to port my Acmlmboard 2.5 layout to Acmlmboard 2.064! |

Posted by SquidEmpressFor right-handed people. Notice how the control stick/d-pad is always on the left side of controllers. ____________________ NNID: GreenThunder1337 3DS FC: 1521 - 5979 - 1511 |

It's not that difficult to use the arrow keys with the left hand, though.
But even then, it's just that WASD is not in the same format as the the arrow keys or the dpad. If the arrow keys were the left and WASD was replaced by IJKL, I'd still prefer the arrow keys because of the same reasons. ____________________ Super Mario LOLand Thanks to kaj for helping to port my Acmlmboard 2.5 layout to Acmlmboard 2.064! |

Online surveys you have to complete just to visit premium content are SO annoying. Then again, most of the time something's fake if you have to complete a survey to get it.
