Ok so here's the deal. I was browsing Mfgg (Mario Fangaming Site) and found a SMB1 editor (ala Lunar Magic). More importantly, it plays just like original! Some things have been added however (clock now can go into the 1000's and counts up, a visible checkpoint, ect) but most of the stuff stayed the same.

Ok.

Now that I'm done with my introduction of the project, time to show off some junk!

Ingame screens.

Who knows, maybe this will catch on and become a big thing on Kuribo64. I'll like to see some projects that use this.

Oh yeah, here's a download link for the editor:

Kek, have fun.

(P.S: Yes, this is a side-project I'm currently working on!)

Wow, that's really nice. Is it 100% SMB or will it have some newer stuff as well, e.g. Ice Flower or Luigi.

99.999998% SMB1. As you can see in the last screenshot, checkpoints have been added along witha timer that counts upwards.

That's about all the new stuff.

Yeah, I see that. But newer stuff will expand the level design :3

True. This was the only version released. Someone could make these things if they have knowledge of Java Script. Hope you guys download this and make cool fun levels.

I already downloaded it and I started to create a level.

For a second there I thought this was a basic ROM hacking tool, but then I noticed the overlapping tiles and various conflicting tilesets/palette sets.

All in all, that's a cool idea. Why not add funky shit to the game engine, in a 'nostalgia++' way? As in, we have the nostalgia and oldschool style, but not the limitations of the ancient game engines, so we can pretty much go crazy.

Yeah, you can use any tile from any stage in the game.

I would love to add things like Luigi and other stuff except I don't have knowledge in Java script. Maybe someone else could try.

You can learn, though.

There's a neat site I learned some C++ in.

Also, hehe. Nice to see people actually caring about the early Mario games. :)

There seems to be a 'retro game but better' trend these times. (see also: 3DS eshop)

People seem care more about the early games than they do the latest games.

Mostly because the latest games tend to be the worst thing ever when it comes to hacking. 3D models will rape you to death 3 times over if you don't have like 3 months of experience 3D hacking already.
