I got a Nexus 4, which has stock Android and free of Samsungs evil grasp. Though it's old now, and the battery has decayed.

I have an S6 and I was able to completely phase out TouchWiz by using nova launcher (which i would have in stock android cause its so good), and all the apps that come pre installed I was able to disable easily. My S6 now is super customizable (because its android) and it has the benefit of being samsung, which has great features stock android still lacks. As for the phone being a year old, I feel I bought it yesterday as to how responsive it is right now and how much the battery lasts.

Yes, I know. You can stop using TouchWiz with another launcher.

And I know, Nova Launcher is awesome. Being using for a few years now.

What other features Samsung modded Android has? The only one I know which pains me greatly is that stock kitkat doesn't have a way to set up a lockscreen wallpaper

One painstakingly obvious example is multi window, which is something that has been there since the note 2 and android still has not implemented. I use it all the time.

thing is, with the small display and lack of a precise pointing device, you can't really get windows on a smartphone without consuming a lot of screen space for shit like titlebars or window moving controls, and even less have a convenient way to manage them

Well, this feature is especially made for people who have bigger smartphone, I would say 5.5 inch display size or larger. I've actually had this feature on the G4, and it worked great. It was pretty convenient and perfect for multitasking.

If you're talking about a phone smaller than 5 in, then good luck I guess...

I use multiwindow all the time, sometimes I read reddit while watching a youtube video, sometimes I write an email while reading the email address on chrome, etc. It is very useful and it works well for me at 5.1 inches (my S6 screen size, and it fits in my pocket perfectly).

Samsung phones are known for their battery. And gosh, s6 is the most terrible experience ever. With a s7 edge, you can double the time really. Meaning over 8 hours of YouTube video at 1440p, maximum brightness, maximum audio, etc.

If you use that many apps at once on a s7 edge, the battery is still awesome. Because it's so big, it's more than 2x larger than the battery of an iPhone 6s.

nah, the battery on the s6 is alright, and I always have my laptop and a usb with me so battery isn't a big problem for me, and depending on which apps you use. Like, using youtube destroys the battery but using reddit is fun app in dark mode (specially made for amoled display devices because it turns off the black pixels) saves a lot of battery)

And I haven't had your experience with the s6, I find the battery to be pretty good, and the recharge rate even better. But yes, the s7 battery is the best out there, really good phone.
