SMG1 is more hardcoded than SMG2. About galaxy adding/replacing in SMG1's worldmaps, people has said it's "pain in the ass", but SMG1's worldmap is more simple than SMG2's.

AstroDome (in StageData) in SMG1 is the worldmap if you may didn't know. It has basically the dome with the mini galaxy icons. In the first layer/scenario it's world 1 with its galaxy icons, in the second layer/scenario it's world 2 etc.. The mini galaxy icon there isn't just the icon model for the galaxy, it IS the galaxy.

I replaced Flipswitch Galaxy with Space Junk Galaxy! I did it by rename "MiniFlipPanelExGalaxy" to "MiniStarDustGalaxy". And it worked! Screenshots:

Also, do not use MrRean's "fixed" version of AstroDome that Whitehole can open. It doesn't have a worldmap sky.

AstroDome normally doesn't open because the sky there is looking for another object that isn't in ObjectData, then Whitehole can't load it. MrRean had to delete the sky.

To rename the mini galaxy icon in AstroDome that doesn't open in Whitehole, open it in Whitehole's BCSV editor by type
/StageData/AstroDome.arc
in Archive
and
/AstroDome/jmp/Placement/layer/ObjInfo
in File.
"layer" can be Common, LayerA etc., depends on which worldmap you want to edit.

Another good thing! You can also add NEW galaxies to a worldmap from other worldmaps! Screenshots:

(I added Melty Molten and Dusty Dune but they came to the middle with Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor too).
Just open AstroDome in Whitehole's BCSV editor and add a new entry, type MiniTheNameOfTheGalaxy in "name" and try to match the settings with the others. I don't know what obj_arg0 really does, but I think the values is for if the galaxy is a normal, special or boss galaxy. I like to set it to 0. You can also play around with the coordinates to move your new added galaxy, but nothing didn't change when I did. It was just in the middle and Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor came to the middle too.

When you replace/add a new galaxy to the worldmap it has its name, banner etc. and it's playable and works normally with no errors or anything. But when you win or quit the level you come back to its original dome.

The bad is though, "noone cares about SMG1".

I mean I discovered now so we know how to do it. Did you really have to say that irrelevant comment when I found something cool?

You didn't find it. NWPlayer123 and others had actually looked into it a long time ago.

And they didn't say anything?

Also, of course the MiniModel is the galaxy. How else would it load onto a worldmap that doesn't even have an archive for storing them like SMG2 did.

You didn't add a new galaxy. You replaced and added an existing entry.

Wait, can you add an entry something like- Super Spacecraft Galaxy?

I saw what MrRean said, and Im wondering if hes right. cause it seems you didn't actually add a new entry. Only with the existing galaxies did you add to the dome.

Do you actually have an idea what hardcoded means?

Yes.

I promise. I added a new entry to ObjInfo.

THat is not adding a new one. Understand in GH. A new one is a completely new slot.

I understand what you mean (making a new slot in the world map, but not a new slot in the game entirely), but doesn't that mean its kinda useless. Its cool, but are you able to add an entry called like : SomeRandomGalaxy or something?

Renaming the string in the DOL is the most basic way to do it, unless you want to go further and rename all occurrences.

You can just as easily add a new one if you're going through the code, it's not that difficult.

It needs new text in the BMG file, which is impossible.

Currently yes, but someone could crack open that file format...

...probably. It's unlikely anyone will try, but there's a chance.

No it isn't. Learn some hex editing, and hex edit it if you understand the format well enough. :)
