I remember my first time playing SMG2, Digga-Leg was a huge pain. I'd keep on missing and getting hit by the Diggas. And this isn't suppose to be harder than SMG2, so we don't need to really edit that boss all that much since it's original galaxy was also in W1

I do tend to find most bosses easy, sorry. I just want one more gimmick to make the boss like a Bowser Jr. boss.

Actually Digga-Leg was pretty hard the first time I fought him.. but not anymore :V

Digga-Leg here? Eh, sounds okay. But he was sort of hard.

So you beat every single boss in the whole game without a single death and without watching a walkthrough? Wow.

I'm pretty sure I did exactly that on my latest playthrough, Polari.

Back to the topic, we shouldn't just leave the boss arena completely unchanged. I propose some parts of the ground be metallic so that you can't drill through it.

EDIT:Speaking of Digga-Leg, are there ways to make it trigger events like bowser shockwaves? I just read the Burrow Base design topic on the old forum and want to know if that's implementable yet.

Actually, I did. Every boss except Giga Latiku, Gobblegut, Sorbetti, Glamdozer, Squizzard, Prince Pikante, Boomsday, and Fiery Gobblegut.

That's still a bunch of bosses.

can we please get BTT now?

Burrow Base should possibly use the spin drill more in 3D areas (it was mostly used in 2d environments in SMG2)

We decided that rock wasn't going to be in this galaxy a long time ago. It gets introduced in W3 anyway :P

I meant that there should be a mine, with crystals, boulders and some chunks of metal. Otherwise, there needs to be a gravity theme as well, because, seriously, drilling is mostly one-way. Except for the bouncing. Pretty much, the dirt theme by itself is kinda lacking.
Like, a huge rectangular planet, with the top fenced off (where Mario lands). Then he has to avoid Diggas and those digging moles from Battle Belt, getting the Spin Drill, then digging down to emerge in a small square cavern with many crystals and metal machines. Mario has to then find the right digging spot, with all others just bouncing him around, then back up.
Then a few more much shorter maze like drilling spaces (just high enough to jump in), with a couple digging moles and 3 spots to drill each. One gets the player forward, while the others are the wrong ones, and Mario eventually gets to a dead end, with a pipe taking him back to where he guessed wrong. Best to have three layers total, but with a signboard giving him a tip at the beginning, and the right ones having a difference (like, with more Diggas near it?)
Then...Mario either pops out the other end, then explores the long flat side of the planet . Or he emerges in a gigantic cavern...ran out of ideas here.

The "mazes" should be made of dirt pillars, reduced size giant gems, and machinery (the mining machines).

Anyway, Digga-Leg is very easy. Some seriously well designed arena would be needed to boost its difficulty to the likes of Gobblegut.
Huh. I could design this if nobody else would like to (excluding the boss), providing nobody hates my general plan...?

hmm, go for it! Make sure to add a ton of details and stuff though :3

You want a difficult battle against Digga-Leg? Just make the planet all wacky. Use a giant blob-shaped planet. It should like a stretched-out splatter with random holes of varying sizes inside. Put Lil' Brrs inside the hollow areas for a twist.

Problem is, if the planet isn't round, or is enlarged without Digga-Legg also being enlarged, Digga-Leg will glitch up at worst and look ugly at best (because its legs are at a certain angle to fit its planet).
Would Digga Leg even work well in 3D? It was fought in 2D, so...and plus, the planet would look rather empty.
Hmmmm...perhaps the planet doesn't need to be 3D. It could be an enlarged version of the round planet, but looking like a donut, with a hollow center. And maybe a few metal pieces embedded in it.

Is Digga-Leg's star-holding area even big enough to have a Grand Star in? Or can we make that area empty and make the Grand Star Spawn when Digga-Leg blows up?

We cam always enlarge Digga-Leg and the planet. Too bad my idea will not work :/.

My first attempt:
Planets:
-Main planet: a huge cylindrical dirt planet with huge gems, Diggas and drilling machines everywhere.
(the drilling machines...could they be those Undergrunt-manned bubbleshooters, except half-buried in the planet?)
-Others: drilling puzzle planets like Agent000's
-Boss planet
Star 1:
Mario lands on the side of the main planet, next to a caged Lum:,"Oh, Mario! Could you help me out of here? Those stinkers buried the key in that hill!" And so he has to take one of the numerous Drills left all over the place, and make his way over to a dirt hill, avoiding various Diggas and machines. (the rest of the surface is exactly the same boring scene)
Mario has to drill through the top of the hill (with a drill spot to mark it), reaching a small cave littered with drilling machines and huge gems, forming a kind of small maze with the key at one corner.
When he returns to the Luma via a drill spot where the key was (made obvious by a sign pointing it out), :"Oh, thanks! But the pipe leading to the heart of this mine has been locked...I'm pretty sure it's in one of the outer parts of the mine. I'll make a shortcut for you!" *poof*
Mario now has to go through a couple (2-3) drilling puzzles on individual planets. (Leaving this empty to accomadate any other ideas for puzzles, 1-2 more). After each puzzle, a Luma floats up to him: "No luck? Darn...Maybe the next one..." *poof*
After the key is found at the end of the last puzzle, the Luma wishes him good luck and blasts him to near the pipe.
He emerges in a cavern, like the one before, except larger. There are numerous drill spots in the ground, but only a few actually take Mario anywhere, with the others just bouncing him around, then back up. (Signboards give Mario a few tips, and the right ones have Diggas swarming around it)
The few correct drilling spaces take Mario to an "unexcavated" part of the mine, with dirt pillars, hills and half-buried gems everywhere, with only a huge drilling space in the ground being of any interest.
When Mario drills through it, he finally emerges on the opposite side of where he started, but on a huge fenced off raised platform.
The Toad Brigade have a Launch Star to Bowser Jr and his mecha of choice...Digga Leg.
Boss:
An enlarged Digga Leg fought on a donut shaped planet with quite a few gems and metal pieces mostly buried in it (to block Mario).

So, that's my first draft. Comments?
Is it any good?

The problem with obstructions in the planet is what happens if a Digga hits them when it is going inside the planet? Will it bounce back like when they hit a wall?

Hmmm, that's a problem. Digga-Leg's Digga spawning attack...Seems to be testable though.

The design needs more criticism... :/
