So uh, I already had complaints about their playlist system. Namely, since a while autoplay is enabled by default, and if you click the button while the page is still loading, it takes its 'autoplay disabled' appearance but autoplay IS STILL ENABLED.

But now...

Those buttons surround the play/pause button, causing it to be in a different place than when viewing a video outside of a playlist. This is already a bad thing. Breaks your habit of clicking in the bottom left corner for play/pause or similarly for the volume button. And it's inconsistent.

I'm not sure if that is worse than how the buttons have been implemented. When the page loads, the interface is the same as for non-playlist videos, but only once the page has loaded, those two buttons pop out of nowhere, abruptly moving things around. Bad bad bad.

Seriously Google? Just stop trying already.

The people who are designing Youtube need to die in a fire for making such terrible designs and showing them down everyone's throats as if they were okay when they're clearly not.

The added buttons in themselves are a nice idea, but the way they are added in the interface is just TERRIBLE.

just get into the habit of clicking the screen instead; that has always worked.

It feels more natural to click buttons, though.

I click the space button on the keyboard, specially when watching in full screen, IDK.

Sometimes it forgets that the player exists and it sends me half down the webpage.

And what about the volume control? :)

Especially when I switch Gmail accounts. 'oh, you have been disconnected, I will scroll you all the way down to tell you the obvious'

And don't get me started on Youtube's 'you have replied to a comment on your own video' emails.

I like how sometimes there is a very annoying bug (clicking the profile picture of the uploader of a video does nothing, iPad app is completely destroyed) and it takes them a month to realize the problem and fix it.

Oh, and the "Popular channel you might like" nonsense needs to stop. Or not. Or Google will go bankrupt from lack of trust and demand, but seriously, they have WAY too much money for that to happen anytime soon. Or someone will make a better video site and send Google under (I hope that happens). In the meantime, I'm forced to use GOOG£€'$ ¥OUTUB€.

I seriously still don't get why everyone is so upset.

As long as I can still watch videos, I'm fine. I just tend to ignore the features that don't interest me.
Status: It was really, really fun, guys - thanks for the ride!

Because everyone has to complain about everything before getting over it after 3 months.

Yeah...
ITT: omg change omg they moved a thing 2 pixels omg omg

YouTube definitely isn't perfect and there are a bunch of things that need some serious improvement, but complaining about buttons being moved or other small UI changes is just stupid.

Nah, long ago, when Google didn't do anything shitty but Google translate (still unsure it even existed yet), well clicking on the the player wasn't pausing the vids.

(I was very young then, I don't remember clearly of everything)

Oh, looks like they finally fixed the issue I mentioned in the first post (the playlist related buttons popping out of nowhere).

Only took them what, one month?

Well, not too bad when you know all the shit they shoved down their users' throats.

Always know that it could be worse. They could remove subscriptions or make it even more music-centered to the point where playlists could have only VEVO in it. Honestly sounds like something they would do.

I'm surprised nobody brought up Google+, the cation of evil. Or the constant pushing of popular channels.

Well, Google+ isn't really that bad, it's just yet another Social Network, in which popular Channels can Post random stuff on, and you'll get as many +1's on it, as you would get on Facebook, with Likes.

Google+'s idea makes sense, but the thing is, I don't like being on social networks. Let's say a website wants me to log in with Google -- then I need a Google+. Let's say I want to like or comment on a YouTube video -- Google+. Let's say I want a YouTube channel -- Google+. I'm surprised you're not forced into it if you have a Gmail or just a Google account with no Google+. If you do have a NON PREMIUM SCARY BAD ACCOUNT WITH NO GOOGLE+ OH THE HORROR, then Google just constantly reminds you at every turn, "Hey! Your inbox is empty! People are talking on Google+..." "Hey! You're on the dropdown for logging out, account settings, and stuff like that! You should join Google+!"

Damn it.

EDIT: I think I mentioned this in IRC a while ago, but you now need 500 subscribers and verification and some shit for a YouTube channel URL like youtube.com/user/myfunkychannel rather than youtube.com/channel/BUFV0wioebew0FWofuibWFU. What the hell?

Luckily, I already have a /user URL, because I created my Channel, far before Google+ even arrived.
But it's just a fact, that Google is murdering YouTube, in a Dictator-like manner, making its Users complain for a while, and the same people are all 'Back in Business', like the Changes never occurred.

I see it every single time, like that:
1. Google Applies a Change, nobody wants.
2. Everyone complains for a little while.
3. Everyone accepts it, and continue using their Services (again).

Only if people would massively leave YouTube, or at least, the big ones, I'm very sure, they'd change it all back.
However, as long as the big Channels get their money, this will never happen, because after all, YouTube relies on them, and they rely on YouTube.

The issue I mentioned wasn't really that, but how the added buttons were added as the page finished loading, causing the other buttons to potentially jump around while you tried to use them.

autoplay is still forced on, although that isn't terribly bad. What's worse is that they still haven't fixed that shit where trying to click it before the page has fully loaded causes it to look like it acknowledged the click even though autoplay IS STILL ENABLED waiting to bite you at the end of the video.

Like, do they even test their shit? Whoever codes that shit and thinks it's okay needs to die in a fire.

Now, yeah. There aren't much good alternatives to Google's services. With all the features and shit they offer, they enforce a monopoly.

Vimeo supposedly refuses anything related to video games and licks the copyright whores' asses.

One would need to make a decent video hosting site. But video hosting takes bandwidth, a lot of it, so the hosting bill would be expensive. One might also want to get bulletproof hosting to ensure they aren't taken down by the FBI (apparently the FBI doesn't care if it's not in USA). Bulletproof hosting is expensive.

Maybe a good thing to do for such a startup would be to base itself in China, or another country that doesn't care about piracy. Not saying the site should promote blatant piracy/theft or even allow it, though. Copyright related complaints would be treated fairly.
