Yeah, but it won't address the 53% of the people who use Chrome. And again, the site owner seems iffy on it, saying "it is worth breaking our animated images for 60% of our viewers so 40% can view a better-quality animation?".

I'd tell people to not fucking use Chrome because fuck it, but well...

Same here.

I don't understand why it's so popular and people are so complacent with letting Google access their personal information. Maybe they're fooled into thinking that the tracking system are just benevolent, and they like Google, so they think by sharing their personal information, they think they're helping Google.

But WHY doesn't Chrome support APNG again?

then again, Firefox likely does the same shit, and every browser too, because these days you can't just throw software at people and expect them to work it out, you need to constantly be collecting "usage statistics", crash reports, beg for reviews and opinions, etc...

Chrome doesn't support APNG because it's lazy -- it uses the OS's image decoding functions instead of providing its own. I don't know about Linux, but Windows isn't gonna support APNG anytime soon, so... yeah.

Youtube's latest coding stunt: go back to a Youtube tab that is done playing, and almost all the time, it will go back to 'playing/buffering' mode without actually doing anything. Half the time, it goes "an error occured, go fuck yourself".

If you want to see YouTube's new amazing flawless new design layout:

On YouTube, while looking at the website's cookies, delete "VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE", then go to the console and type this:
document.cookie = "VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=oj82p4M1NCA; expires=Sat, 22 Jul 2017 03:13:38 UTC"

Note: It actually isn't amazing at all.

EDIT: It doesn't seem to be working anymore on my end for some reason, that's sad. I guess they switched the IDs around or something. Some of the IDs some other sites display also aren't working anymore.

Because, if you don't adapt to their Hipstery, they will force you into it.
("Hipster Coding" should be the word of the year, by now...)

So has anyone seen the new youtube notifications system yet?

I woke up today with 17 notifications, confused as fuck. I'd only ever gotten 4 max and I'd been on youtube just last night. And then I see livestreams in my goddamn notification feed. Fucking great. Oh, also, if you want to see the context of a comment, you have to go to the video. Clicking the comment doesn't bring up a little box anymore.

Well, I'm experiencing the exact opposite, seeing how YouTube doesn't notify me at all when certain people comment.
Aka, YouTube is actively discriminating random people...

In some cases, YouTube even goes as far as not showing comments from certain people at all, meaning I will either need to wait a few days, or login as a different account, in order to see comments from that user.
What's best? These users aren't even blocked!

So yeah, nice job, Google!

Hey yami, just found this on reddit. It's a response to the same issue that you're having:

"Either the channel owner will block you for one reason or another or Google have marked you as a spammer. You'll still be able to post but you wont know that you've been marked as a spammer until your on a browser that isn't signed in. For many cases, posting links might get you marked as a spammer. Saying you like someone's video and asking them to check out your own video might also get you marked as a spammer. The spam system is definitely not perfect."

The blocking system used to be perfect, until all YouTube Channels suddenly became Google+ accounts.
From that very moment, blocked people were no longer actually blocked, and that's a huge disappointment...

I've used my Windows Tablet to make a Taiko video, and I saw how YouTube fucked up something once again.
This time, it's the Notification Bell.

Like, I apparently had 104 Notifications on Windows, and 0 on Linux.
I opened it, the whole look changed.
Clicking one no longer gives you the option to directly reply to a Comment, but instead, sends you to the video...

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. Really sucks. But I think the notification bell is the "old" one on google search pages, so I just search some random shit just to check my notifications.

I still have the old bell on my Linux Laptop, at least.

The Youtube video player now says that I've muted the video, even though I haven't. I can't get rid of it, it's annoying. For some reason the button is always crossed out.

yeah, I noticed that too

either it's an unsettling new way of telling that you can click the button to mute the video, or their """""coders""""" broke something again

in the latter case, maybe it will be fixed in 2018

edit- well, it seems to be fixed now

Nope, it's still broken. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. That's weird.

huh, you're right.

well, welcome to what happens when you pile up layers of code and bloat. this shit doesn't happen when you keep things simple.

YouTube glitches out in the middle of me playing videos. Sometimes these videos don't even work at all, pissing me off.

I don't understand why they need to make "improvements" to the experience, it was always fine the way it was. Every time they tried doing that, it always breaks, and we're always off better before than after they fixed whatever crap broke.
