That should work, the original way we did it was through WiiNARC but you have to remember to drag the edited file to Yaz0dec when finished because it messes up compression when saving.

MY QUESTION WAS THIS:
Posted by legomariofanatic
Well... I tried that, but the folder(s) wouldn't go into the proper spot (such as: my Layer A folder wouldn't be placed directly underneath the Common folder). If this is normal, the let me know! If it isn't normal, then what am I doing wrong?

YOUR ANSWER IS:

...OK, but what is Yaz0dec?

ANOTHER (POSSIBLY STUPID) QUESTION: Is it possible to make a Green Power Star appear (similar to the Gold Power Stars in the game)???

EDIT: ...I take your silence as a "NO"?

With a switch or after a boss is killed?

...Possibly so, Aurum. (Does anyone else have anything to say about this?)

...How do I import a planet/zone from SMG1 into SMG2 (if that's possible)?

It would take some stage editing, mostly because some objects don't exist in SMG2, and with the JMP sections that aren't used in SMG2, as well.

I was referring to just the planets themselves (with no objects), but... how much stage editing?

If you import a planet you have to add it to ProffctMapObjDataTable by Using the BCSV editor and add a new entry and type the name of the planet in ModelName's "Data" section and "SimpleMapObj" in ClassName's "Data"section. Save the BCSV file, repack it, add the planet to ObjectData, place it in the level and put ProductMapObjDataTable and the planet in ObjectData on your SD card. Importing zones is a bit more complicated, I only know how to replace them.

That would be slightly problematic because SMG1 doesn't have a ProductMepObjDataTable (or if it does, it's a hardcoded equivalent, because I haven't found anything), and some planets might use that instead of the PlanetMapDataTable (which it thankfully does have), so I would look them on a case-by-case basis, but otherwise animations and such should work normally if added to the PlanetMapDataTable.
EDIT: I also don't know about collision, it should be the same (for flags) but IDK for a fact.

I can confirm that SMG1 KCLs can be ported to SMG2 unmodified, and work fine...unless it uses a floor code that isn't present in SMG2, in which case the game will crash on contact with such a face. Other parts of the model are still safe, and Whitehole's BCSV editor can be used to (manually and tediously) change these floor/wall codes to ones that exist in SMG2.

Well, after testing this "theory" out, this happened: http://youtu.be/cp6P4419jNU (turn annotations on)

I can select any Star EXPECT for the Green Star on the top row (just like the annotations said). The Gearmo gives you that Green Star after completing the crate-burning challenge. If you collect Green Star 2 (the one near the normal Star in the level), the game tells you that you got the hidden star. It's a really strange... discovery I made...

Then perhaps it belongs in the discoveries thread!

Did you not look at the video I posted? "It" is me swapping the "IDs" of Green Star 2 and the hidden Star in the Rightside Down Galaxy.

Yeah...I figured it was something like that, but I really couldn't tell for sure, given that you really didn't show anything but the stars, which AFAIK could've been an object swap. Geez, sorry for not understanding information I wasn't given.

Yeah, pretty much. Not a huge problem, and one that can easily be fixed.
