The text for the levels is in /MessageData/UsEnglish/SystemMessage.arc. If you need any help with SMG hacking just ask me! ;)

...I KNOW THAT ALREADY!!! I just wanted to know how to open those files!!!

Oh sorry. But could you please... calm down a bit?

Go here and look for Nuntius Novus. Well...msbtEditor and msbconv should work as well, but Nuntius Novus is my preference and personal recommendation.

...Ummm, Nuntius Novus allows you to edit the in-game messages.

I want t edit the names of the Stars. (i.e. I want to change Think Before You Shake (Flip-Swap Galaxy) to Flip-N-Spin.) How would I do that???

Go to /LocalizeData/UsEnglish/MessageData/SystemMessage.arc.
Extract SystemMessage.arc and you'll get many MSBT files. ScenarioName.msbt has all galaxies scenario name, GalaxyName.msbt has all the names for the galaxies and GalaxyNameShort.msbt has the short names for the galaxies. So edit ScenarioName.msbt with Nuntius Novus and you'll see "Think before you shake" somewhere.

^ This. It works with all text in SMG2. You just have to know where to look.

..Well, I've been moving around the Green Stars in the game, and I came across 3 problems that I don't know how to fix:

1. In Hightail Falls Galaxy, Green Star 3 does not appear on the Star Select screen, and the game doesn't count it as a Star. (It DOES appear in the Galaxy, however.)
2. I placed a Launch Star in Stone Cyclone Galaxy with a path, but the path appears WRONG in-game.
3. Not really a problem, but, how do you add a checkpoint to a Galaxy?

Thanks?!

1) looks like scenariodata is corrupted or something
2) how many points does it have? How is it "wrong"?
3) checkpoint = RestartObj (midway flag) or adding another "Mario" as a Starting Point.

1. The scenariodata for BigWaterFallGalaxy is corrupted?!?!?! How do I un-corrupt it???
2. The launch star in MadnessOnimasuGalaxy has points 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. It leads to a secret area where the Power Star is. However, the launch star (and the Power Star) don't appear until you collect all 5 Silver Stars in the galaxy. If you want, I can show you a picture of this...
3. I know that, but, what settings does the checkpoint need?? (I'm trying to add it to the small planet between Bouldergiest and Fiery Dino Piranha in the Boss Blitz Galaxy.)

1. It's not. You just did something wrong.

2. Cool. :P

3. RestartObj needs an obj_arg0 of the ID of the starting point.

1: What do I do wrong?
2: Actually, I just realized that the launch star and the path for it are NOT in the same zone... Oops!
3: Thanks for the info! :)

EDIT: How do I add gravity to a planet/zone in a galaxy???

Click Add Object > Gravity then choose one from the gravity category. Look in the Object Database for what type of gravity you'd use.

Try to just add one without any settings, if that doesn't work, try to look in other galaxies that have the same gravity and look into their settings.

Open arcTools.exe and click "Extract an arc" and choose the arc you want to extract - SystemMessage. When you done that you'll see many MSBT files. When you're done and you have edit the ones you want, create a folder named EXACTLY "SystemMessage" and put everything you got when you extracted in the folder. Then open arcTools again and click "Repack an arc" and click on the SystemMessage folder.

You can find arcTools here in the category "Extracting & packing". The pack was made by SunakazeKun.

Just thought I'd add that there are other tools for working with ARCs. I use WiiExplorer.

Well, the gravity controller works! HOORAY!!!

But, the camera in the area/zone is screwed up. How do I fix that??

You'll have to edit that manually with Anarchy. Find it here. There isn't much documentation (AFAIK, go talk to rean) so you're on your own for cameras.

Oh... Well, OK...?

Another problem I encountered: I added a new section to Supermassive Galaxy where you have to collect Star Chips in order to create a launch star leading to the galaxy's Hidden Star. The problem is that the galaxy crashes everytime I select any Star from the menu. What do I do??? :( :( :(

I'll hazard a guess: Star Chips aren't in the UseResource file. Use anarchy to add them. Not sure how to explain that in a post. Maybe it't time I wrote my first tutorial?
