I am getting a strong SMG1 vibe from looking at these pictures. Maybe evening could be used for star 2, while star 1 would be night. Or the other way around. And the ship could be a little bigger.

Something I didn't make quite clear, this is NOT a design, it's just concept art. The actual level will have a much more fleshed out design. However, yes, the first star is only those two planets. It will be long though, it's a big area, and once you get onto the second moon you have to swim to different parts of it.

Well it is bloody good concept art! I am aware that the design should be more fleshed out, but I do have a question: What do you personally want the background to be like?

Dark... but not TOO dark, honestly. Cosmic cove was not a dark galaxy by any means but the sky was still dark.

Remember that this was some of the original inspiration for this galaxy:

Edit: I think, in an effort to make the level more linear and fun, I'm going to make it so you need to venture onto/inside of one of these boo ships to gain access to the water that brings you to the moon planet above. How exactly I'm going to do this, I'm not 100% sure. I'm thinking I'll have the pathway be blocked by a cave or something, which you can only gain access to by getting a key in the pirate ship.

Since this is supposed to be like cosmic cove in its atmosphere, how about we do something similar with a bright, dark blue background with lots of stars and nebulas?

Glem: Deep Dark's concept art does really fit. The cave was supposed to dark according to the picture. I agree that is should not be too dark.

Maulio: Yeah, that would go with this galaxy's theme.

I actually honestly think I'm kind of against a dark blue sky because I'm worried it will make the water that's being pulled up stand out less. Maybe more of a mixture of bluish purple and black?

Or, how about we have a dark sky and light up the water? If we could make it glow, it would be BEAUTIFUL.

When I've always pictured Lunar Lagoon I've imagined a pink evening sky. It's calm and doesn't blend in with anything

Eh, I personally agree with MG3. It'd take a bit of work but that work needs to be done anyways, for this and other things.

Liking the concept art here. It's very high quality :) I, too, agree with mg3 in regards to the background.

Looks great!
So, are we gonna have the ship be an abandoned pirate ships with traps like spikes, or having a full out ghost ship with actual Boos?

I was thinking to have traps like a partially hidden Thwomp, pits with spikes and a few Bob-ombs dropping down guarding the treasury room of the pirate ship. That'd make sense. Or maybe the key to the treasury be in the poisoned dungeon.

I don't think a hiding Thwomp should go here. The Bob-ombs sound good though.

Maybe not a full ship, I would like one, but yes, the main feature of this galaxy is boos. I do like the bob-omb idea too tho.

Or even better. Combine both Boos and Bob-Ombs to get Bomb Boos. Tada. OK seriously, Bomb Boos would work inside the ship.

Well even so, this still will need a design as like Glem said

I do like his ideas and planets and such, but this still needs to be expanded on. I definitely think we should include more gravity, more than just the round sphere stuff for normal planets.

Glem's concept art has a Loopdeloop-like water "road". Cosmic Cove has water sqyares. Imagine those two water shapes along with piecesof pirate ships.

What about it? I don't really think that we should have midair swimming mechanics since messing up and having gravity bring you back down would be super annoying. Maybe if it were inside a/the moon in a 2D area or something.

I like the idea of lakes on moons. The starting planet could be an elliptical planet with a lagoon and a pirate ship. It is surrounded by moons. Some moons you have to swim all the way through, other moons only have craters filled with water. And of course, each moon has its own pirate ship part or unique pirate ship.

Well we already have the basic idea from glem's concept art, though we need more planets and shapes besides that. Maybe 2 moons fused together, one bigger and one smaller to create irregular shapes? We need to do stuff like that.
