The test isn't scientific at all. You shouldn't be paying for it. The only reason I paid for it was that it was part of a required remedial course in college and god I wish I didn't have to take the course. It felt pretty pointless.

Exactly. That's a huge problem in today's society - some major things rely solely on tests like these. This isn't good and needs to change, soon.

People do love a good ego boost. I've posted a criticism of it before, shill my post.

But again, it's fine if you're just having fun. And who doesn't like a little fun and an ago boost?

Actually, I'm INTP-T and the test was super accurate for me. Super introvert.

Test was super accurate because it's so vague that its results apply to generally anyone. Again, it's not really scientific and you'll get more mileage out of maybe Big Five, but all personality tests have flaws.

My result was completely wrong though.

Well, good for you, doesn't make the test any more accurate though.

reminds me of an experiment they did, whoever "they" are.

they had a group of people take a personality test, and nearly everyone found the results to be accurate.
turns out they were all given the same exact "results" paper sheet, mostly full of compliments.

it shows how you refer to yourself when reading positive generic descriptions.

They call it "Forer's demonstration". You can have a nice read there, but it's basically what you described it.

Don't worry mobile users, it's like an old 90's site so it won't cause your phone to freak out.

This was the statement in question. Of course, the language is a bit dated (like "sexual adjustment" but the overall effect and style is the same.

You have a great need for other people to like and admire you. You have a tendency to be critical of yourself. You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage. While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them. Your sexual adjustment has presented some problems for you. Disciplined and self-controlled outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure inside. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. You pride yourself as an independent thinker and do not accept others” statements without satisfactory proof. You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. At times you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, reserved. Some of your aspirations tend to be pretty unrealistic. Security is one of your major goals in life.

S'yeah, don't take Myers Brig or horoscopes seriously. Hope you already know how much of a load of crap horoscopes are.

Nah, it isn't vague as is described some things that happened to me. If they said I was someone generous or caring (both compliments), I would've said it's bullshit.

so that's why it was inaccurate! not enough insults.

One of the reasons I've found this test inaccurate is because for one, the quiz is not really good at defining your type, and secondly, this is not a good system to determine a person's characteristics. It does a terrible job trying to determine how far a person scores in a specific category, such as Extroversion and...whatever else MBTI has. The Big Five is probably a more useful test in regards to that, but I wouldn't be surprised if even it was considered outdated in comparison to what modern psychology has.

These questions that they put on the internet never really defined me well either, they always felt shallow and came up a bit short. I mostly got INFP and sometimes ISFJ on these tests. There's some close characteristics, but overall it just doesn't feel right.

Now, I have to say I got a bit more self-reflection out of the MBTI functions though, but I can imagine they having some oddities as well. The "Ni Fe Ti Se" functions seem to match me more closely, although they don't really define characteristics as much as ways of thinking and organizing, and they might be vague as well. Apparently the corresponding MBTI type is supposed to be a Counselor or some other related job, but I prefer working with numbers and programming to be honest.
