Ok, seriously, this is awful. I was skeptical when Google took over youtube, but they really didn't do anything initially. But then, videos got removed for copyright and obscene material. I sorta understand why they did this, but it was still frustrating nonetheless, and the hate began there.
Then, they introduced Google+. It was ok for me, as it wasn't required for youtube and was an optional way to have a profile. But I never wanted it. Then, annoying popups happened which really wanted users to upgrade to Google+. And it was difficult to click out of it too, as the "X" was hidden. But it didn't happen too much. It angered me, but still, I could deal with it. I have tried Google+ and lets just say, the interface is TERRIBLE. It really disconects you from the youtube environment. Then, a few days ago, the bomb was dropped. Now a Google+ profile is DOWNRIGHT REQUIRED to use youtube properly. Now, all comments are Google+. This sickens me. Google has now forced us youtube users to change. But we want change - for Google to stop interfering with something that works so long. I can see it now - a future where all videos uploaded hold censoring pending by google, anti-google videos will be taken down... all political videos biased in favor of Google's political views. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Googletube. Lets take a stand. If this reaches enough signatures, maybe Google will notice (if they already haven't by the number of dislikes on the video showcasing the comments change). I Don't give a fuck if they think we will stop complaining. I will fucking go to their HQ with a shotgun to their face and make them to change. They obviously won't do shit if we are passive about it.
Take the Xbox One, it received tons of hate and rants, and Microsoft reversed their policy. Lets hope the active approach will work with google. ____________________

I'm fine with Google+ as long as they don't force me to reveal my private life or other shit. YOU'RE NOT GETTING MY PHONE NUMBER, GOOGLE.
Did you know that before, they tried making their own video service? Google Video. It failed, so they bought Youtube and turned it into shit. Whenever Google+ fails, we'll gotta worry. If they buy Facebook, shit will happen... Google is getting scary though. They're obviously aiming at controlling the internet, which is BAD. If the internet is controlled, its purpose is defeated. I'd be ready to quit using Gmail and Youtube if they start requiring me to give my phone number or my penis size. Well I got an email (from signing the petition) that said that Google hasn't noticed the petition at all, or commented on it. If the public overwhelmingly bashes on Google, they might just change. ____________________

Reminds me of their last change to comments. Now with even more retarded sorting! Because obviously sorting comments by date is too mainstream. Sorting them completely randomly is the best idea ever! (shit I just gave them ideas)

But the thing is, Youtube has no true Substitute. Youtube is easily the number 1 video streaming service. So really, we save it, or the entire world is plunged into the darkness of Google. ____________________

Youtube is the number one because everyone thinks so and therefore goes to Youtube, causing it to be the number one, etc... It's a vicious cycle.

Google knows we hate all this shit but they keep introducing it since they KNOW we'll have to accept it and get used to it eventually. I doubt any of the famous youtubers will quit, and if they won't quit their fans won't either.
the only way we could make them understand is if the entire world agreed to stop using Youtube for like a week (to show Google that we don't need their bullshit). Anyway the comments system is so fucked up that I'm not even bothering to look at the comments or comment anymore, but that might actually be a GOOD thing, considering now I won't have to look at shit fanboy comment wars on gaming videos and actually focus more on the video itself (so yeah about the new youtube comments I'm sorta neutral, although everything else is horrible and MUST GO!). We are basically Google's puppets. No matter how many petitions we sign, videos we make, hateful comments the youtube community makes they will not do anything to change. The only way to convince them to change it back as well as make them realize how much they fucked up is by simply making at least 60% of all Youtube users boycott Youtube and never be active. If that fails there could be an eventual Plan B: EVERYONE DELETES THEIR YOUTUBE AS WELL AS GOOGLE ACCOUNTS (This also counts for important Youtubers and people with 1000+ subs and videos). I know it seems like too much to give up, but if the Youtube community does this Google will have no choice but to change it back (or they will be left with a completely empty website with no videos or activity on it). WE NEED TO FIGHT AGAINST THE ENEMY! (by actually DOING stuff, not make THREATS about doing said stuff)

Thats the problem. Youtube is inelastic, and there is no true Substitute. Google can do whatever they want and the people will have to roll with it.

Fully agreed. MG3 you compared this to how Microsoft changed the Xbox's policies, but in reality that isn't like it at all. Unlike Youtube, the Xbox One had competition, and if Microsoft didn't do what the fans wanted they would just not sell a single Xbox One.
Youtube on the other hand is like you guys said unreplaceable, and there are lots of people whose life is heavily influenced by Youtube. I doubt anyone who has really invested time and money to make lots of great videos will just abandon them. I honestly don't believe it's possible at all to make Google change unless my plan is set in motion (Most of the entire world stop using Youtube), but that won't happen since having to deal with Google+ is probably a small price to pay for letting one keep all their videos and subscribers. I actually hope Google makes everything even worse, so that even the most hardcore Youtubers will get tired of Google's Shit and join the rebellion. If we can get BIG youtube channels, like Smosh, RWJ, and ERB, then maybe, we stand a chance. Youtube might listen to the big channels, as the smaller ones aren't cutting it. ____________________

I ignore google+ totally, and it never comes in my way. You might be mad at google, but really, i find that it made youtube much better. Now with google videos load much faster, google servers are good, its an example. So. Yeah, dont get agressive and dont worry about google+ it wont happen and google will notice. Edit: WTF HOW DID I GET NINJA'D BY 6 PEOPLE IN 10 MINUTES. Mariomaster, how do you think people could POSSIBLY delete their youtube accounts? Its impossible, no one will do it, youtube is great and it is called "jobs" for thousands of people. |
