A STATE OF GALAXY.

We know that this project has been going for a long time. Lots of the stuff we have done (or well, you guys, I haven’t been here for the most part) has been IMPRESSIVE. It’s not easy as for any complete MODIFICATION of the game. But really people are not getting into making stuff.

I’ve been noticing that level creation is a little… well… not really what it was expected. People think it’s too difficult, because messing with 3D is nothing easy, but with all the tools that have been developed, it’s not as difficult, the only bottleneck would be the person for not trying. As someone who has been a “creator” (or part of the project) for quite a long time (or at least know what we have done), it has been getting better each time. First was Anarchy, then music, then 3D models, etc. It’s almost fully customizable.

My point is, the thing itself isn’t easy to do, but if you are interested in it, it gets easy all of a sudden.

Now, I’m dropping the bomb. WE NEED TO PUSH PEOPLE INTO DOING WHAT THEY WANT. Helping them into developing their own ideas they might want inside the game (SMG2) is something that was really missing since the beginning. Take a look to MKWii. At first it was not about doing another game, it was about doing what they wanted. Got better because of a COMMUNITY that wanted to do stuff (or play new stuff) supporting it. So now… Introducing: A STATE OF GALAXY.

Not really a hack, another game, or anything against the already existing SMG2.5 project. It’s about supporting it. It’s an idea I had in mind for a long time but I wanted to share with you guys because you might think like me.

The whole point with “A State of Galaxy” or ASOG is about pushing people into doing their own ideas, making them and bringing them into the real game. We don’t need a designer and a creator. Because the creator could do it itself. The creator can do what he wants by himself (collabs where there’s a designer and a creator i don’t really mind). The SMG2.5 stuff is still kicking in, there's still interest into creating for SMG2 but we have to make it easier for beginners to understand and learn, and just not forcing into doing FOR the project.

Ok I think I derailed myself too much. So, to be clear, the whole idea with ASOG is pushing people (specially beginners) into creating by:

- Helping them with the tools with tutorials (I would prefer text :P )
- Make it more accessible to do their own stuff. What I mean with this is, not rejecting their idea because “it doesn’t fit in the storyline” or something like that. To not restrict them to do what is planned for the hack.
- Not making it feel like work “they have to do”.

Now, I will try to support the hack as much as I can by doing what I think I can do best, level creating (don’t bash me yet :P ). But I think my objective has changed throughout the years about this. I first wanted to get this hack finished but I think now I want to see new stuff.

I would like to see the newest in the galaxy, the state of art of SMG2, the State of Galaxy.

I don’t really know what you guys think but I’ll leave this as food for thought. If we try to do this instead of “working”, I think we will feel a lot less worried about the time we have taken to do this.

Thank you guys, and I hope to create and see more.

I don't want to say its a bad idea but there are some bad points to it:

the reason I could think of that we use designers creators and stuff is because we want it to looking good and professional, I don't know if you ever have looked to the mario kart CTGP but 95% of the tracks are a few polygons what are barely set in to each other.

the reason that happends is because most of people don't have an idea and just start to create something. that's why there are designers, they know how to make a good playing level and to make it not to big or to wide. if some of them would create a planet it would be very ugly looking. and that's why we have the creators, they can make it to reality.

However you can try it of course but Nintendo and all other companies do this the way we would do it now. that is really the best way to make together a good game.

Does a level really need a design? Lots of levels have been made without one, like all of martboo's levels. If there are more people like him who can think like that and not need a design we're all set. Plus, we just need more interest in SMG hacking. If it was about SMG2.5, it would be in SMG2.5 talk, and we'd need a certain level of quality, but this is more about getting an interest back in SMG hacking, and we can always ask level creators to help with SMG2.5 once that happens.

Yeah, because a lot of the people start with "a few polygons". I'm not saying "let's try to do the game with everyone's ideas!" but what I'm saying is "Let's help them bring their ideas in the game (SMG2)".

As long as we try to make it easier for the new people (something like Arduino has been doing for YEARS) I think they will have interest on it and eventually contribute to what we wanted to do in first place.

Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 could definitely stand to be a bit more friendly to newer users. Of course there's always the problem of people coming in and tossing in crazy ideas that could never possibly come to fruition, but we really shouldn't be hostile towards those people (I'M LOOKING AT YOU NWP). Don't just shoot them down and say "this could never happen, get real". Why not provide them with some constructive criticism instead? Ease them into things, don't drive them away! I like your idea, but why exactly does it need a name...? Just asking.

That's what I try to do but then they disappear. Either that or they ignore my advice (LIKE SOME PEOPLE).
Number one rule of not looking like a total bitch is not pointing fingers at anyone, even if you think you know the whole picture. That's why I don't like to start fights like I'm sure this post is about to.

It doesn't need a name :P I was really thinking about naming the movement for no reason, just so the insiders know It's on. New people can know too, but it's not as another project or something as I've said.
