Why don't Windows ask people what they think about these decisions instead of just randomly adding these changes

Linux baby.
I agree with the creep factor, I'll tell you that. It's like a scary old man stroking your head, repeatedly saying "Everything's just as you left it. I didn't touch anything." I dislike how much they try to be "app-y". Ugh, I hate the whole "Modern" deal in general. I just want a freaking operating system, not a 5 LB phone I leave at home. And I don't care what twisted-for-liberal-media thing Sarah Palin said, I don't care about Xbox adverts, so get them off my start screen, and stop putting them back when I disable them. Unfortunately, I came across several unknown issues with my Win 7 installation (I couldn't install updates anymore), so I had to switch to Windows 10 if I didn't want to re buy Windows 7 (Lack of updates caused Vistual Studio to stop working - I needed it!). I'm finding myself using Linux more often - The Raspberry Pi is replacing my needs for a normal desktop anyhow. |

I have windows 10 laptop, and its not the worst, but its not that good. Overall it feels a lot like 7 but with a bunch of things that nobody really wanted or needed tacked on. I want to see if I can downgrade it to 7 dual booted with a linux distro (I have yet to decide which distro though, so feel free to suggest one). ____________________ Hacking LM and trying to not suck. It seems cool to hate on Windows 10 recently. Dunno. I can get my work done. I like getting notifications from Twitter DM's directly through the built-in notifications. There are inconsistencies, but again, I can get my work done.
More dual screen support is nice to have compared to 7. Fastboot. Built-in, proper 'anti-virus'/'firewall', even though I don't use it. ISO mounting, natively in explorer. Most of these features were in 8, but hey, they're also in 10. I feel like arguing about operating systems is a bit pointless though. Just use whatever you like. ____________________ |

Posted by Anthe of course, this thread was just posted for people to give their opinions and exchange just because I started the thread with a negative opinion, doesn't mean this is a bashfest ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

So okay, I shut off the PC for the night. The next morning, everything changed when I couldn't access Microsoft Edge. Well, turns out that I couldn't access a lot of things, too. 90% of everything was frozen (search button, start button) and so I simply tried to go back to windows 7. You know, the go back to windows 7 option if not satisfied within a month or whatever. I did that, and what do you know? When on restart... the blue screen. It gave me plenty of advance options, but of course none of them worked. Well, I tried to remove everything and re-install a clean copy of Windows 10, ( still in the advance options ) annnnnnnd my computer couldn't boot back up on restart. Well it boots, it's just a black screen. Way to go, Microsoft.
I had to get a USB and get a windows 7 ISO, yada yada yada. Will never upgrade to Windows 10 in the future. ____________________ sign |

Imo the option to upgrade an operating system, especialy Windows is a bad idea. Even if they say "Everything will work like before", there will be will be a ton of things that will leave garbage on your drive. And if you then downgrade the whole shit again, the effect increases exponentially. Posted by iZackefx That's a bad idea anyways. ____________________ GitHub - YouTube - NSMBHD |

Posted by StapleButter 'bout right. IMO they forgot the first three letters: F O R. Don't get Windows 10, FORget Windows 10. Heck, in addition to the ugly flat design, they also stripped out the ability to skin the taskbar using a Visual Style, meaning that all those themers who port Visual Styles from previous versions of Windows to newer ones are basically producing...this: And it doesn't help that the taskbar is proving so hard to manipulate, WindowBlinds 10 is basically turning into Half-Life 3 ._. |

Like I've said somewhere else, I've seen multiple installations of Windows 10, it can either go swimmingly or horribly wrong and there's no guarantees. Maybe it can go swimmingly wrong too? No idea.
I think Windows 8 and 10 just represents a change in design for Microsoft, not only visually but in other ways too. Let me explain: Linux, in the most common distributions at the very least, you can change pratically everything in the OS. You can even change the kernel! It makes it very easy to customize, provided you know how do to it which is often the most difficult part and the reason why most people don't use Linux. Then there's, for example, mobile OSs which are very restrictive with what you can and can't do. Android is not even that bad compared to S40 in that regard. It works well, but if a system issue appears, good luck. They never intended you to customize a lot about the system in the first place, it was meant to work in a very simple way. For me, Windows XP and 7 would be between those two types, not very restrictive on what the user can do but also not too changeable. Most people don't bother messing too much with Windows, but those that do want to very well can. For me, Windows 8/10 seem to be taking a step back in that regard, going towards the "mobile way" of doing things. If it's still difficult to understand what I'm trying to say (which can be because I'm a derp), look at this image: Linux would be at the far right and restrictive mobile operational systems would be at the far left...I think. More or less anyway. I didn't mention iOS or OS X because I don't know much about Apple products, but if I had to guess they would lean more towards the "Normal User" side. The reason I think Microsoft is doing this is not only because of the flat design, but also the Windows Store and the fact you can use Microsoft Office on your phone or even on your browser now. They also put more options for transfering data from your computer to either the cloud (OneDrive) or, you guessed it, mobile devices. rev. 3 EDIT: Making sure the link to this image in particular is more permanent.
