Posted by RicBent It also uses Yaz-0 compressed *.brres files for models and *.tga files for all raster images. I also anticipate that other games (particularly 1st-party games) will follow these conventions, especially the use of Targa raster images. ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

Posted by MeTheMarioMan Ummm, I don't think that's what's causing the respawn issue. Is this the only thing you changed when you tested this or did you add or remove objects from the level during the addition? EDIT: Also when Jesse made that video showing off scrolling textures, didn't that happen on an actual console? ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

A sneak peak at what's in store.
(Click thoumbnail for larger image.) Just completed The Candle Lighthouse! A scenic landscape of said lighthouse and Wedge Island in the background. Skybox coming soon. Also, after some major deliberation, I have chosen to have all the stars on one large mission so you can get them in any order and to have an expansive feel for the level. Also the sea is in the works. Since BMDCubed can use transparent textures correctly, I'm going to rip the proper sea textures from Wii Sports Resort and make it look more realistic. The textures currently being used are those textures without the alpha channel; that channel has the color for the texture, so without it I had to apply color myself. Stay tuned for more! ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

Posted by TheSunCat I was thinking using a VERY slow scrolling texture on the skybox so that the transitions between times of day would be smoother, as well as using timer switches to change the lighting and objects. ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

If you would ever have to leave the board for good, who would you pass the board on to?

Just a hunch, the first problem you had was caused by your model. Look at your model again. There might be duplicate vertices or something that's causing this. If you have it, run your model through through Blender or Meshlab and look up a tutorial on how to remove duplicate vertices and apply it to your model. That's usually the culprit when models get wonky. ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

I'm going to try. Haven't gotten the chance to test it yet. Good chance that it'll work though.
If you read up on some game knowledge you'll know that Pikmin 2 and Super Mario Galaxy use derivatives of the same engine. In the video I posted with the BMDCubed thread, it worked for that game so there should be little reason for it to not work with the Galaxy games. ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

Super Hackio run a test to see. Go onto a level that has scrolling textures that you made with 4 lives and then die (preferably in the same way the video shows). If the textures go wonky in your level then it is the BTK's fault; otherwise it's the model's fault.
MeTheMarioMan try some of these scenarios: *Die without landing in the lava. *Die with five or more lives (hunch: it might only do it when the life counter moves to 3. Crazy but might work). EDIT: If these don't reproduce the same effect it's the model's fault, else it's the BTK's fault. Hope this helps. ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

Holy crap this is GREAT!!!
Ever since I saw this, I knew it would be only a matter of time before this would be possible. Now we can do custom animations AND possibly new cutscenes! Keep this up; don't let this die. We believe in you man! (I'm so happy right now!!!) EDIT: also there's a severed Peach head in the background of the first gif. ??? ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

Posted by StapleButter Yeah it may have fewer bugs and/or be in a good language but it lacks a whole lot of features and will have to be recompiled for every OS versus Java being near system-independent ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

Umm, Super Hackio you have to use 3DS Max and export the *.DAE from there using its own exporter.
Open the model you want with 3DS Max and click the 3DS Max icon in the top right corner, click Export. Under the Save As... file type dropdown, save as Autodesk Collada (DAE) and click export. Autodesk software has a proprietary version of the *.DAE file format that is different from its open-source variant. Only those will work with BMDCubed. ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

I like plain carbonated water. I think it tastes good on its own OR if I want to change things up then I can just add whatever juices or flavorings to it to get another drink. ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

I also see that there's a "Bug Test" option. I hope this is what I think it is. Would make debugging galaxies so much easier!

I hated Rainbow Road (SNES) in Mario Kart 7 for a while because it was so difficult and took me so long to get right the first few times playing. Don't hate it now, but... there's still something I don't like about that track. ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

Tell them stuff about in the level, like:
Did you use custom models or models already in-game? If the former, how many polygons and textures are being used for it? What size(s) are the texture(s)? What enemies/items/power-ups/etc. did you use? Did you use any NPCs? If so, did you add text so they could speak without a game crash? If you used launch stars, do they all have paths assigned? Also there is a debug screen for game crashes that has to be enabled through Riivolution (I assume you know how Riivolution works.) Click here for more info on that. You can run the debug screen patch alongside your mod so that when the game crashes it has one of two options: 1) It will bring up a black screen filled with numbers and code. If this happens, one of the objects in the level wasn't set up correctly. If you can't tell which one, look in the SMG/2 object database (click here) for more info. Also send a picture of the part of the debug screen at and below the part where it says "LR Save". This is at the bottom of the debug screen so use the D-Pad on the Wii remote to scroll down until it's all in view. 2) The debug screen doesn't appear even when it's enabled. This means the game is trying to load something but can't because it's missing or too large. This happens most when custom models are used that have too many triangles/polygons or use too many or too large textures. A nice rule of thumb I use: never have a model with more than 55,000 polygons and textures no larger than 256 by 256 pixels large (any size larger than that is unnecessary due to the Wii's low resolution.) Hope this helps! ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |

This looks great so far and I think great progress will come out of this. However I have a few questions. Why is the rendering in wireframe? Will this be changed in the future? If it will, can this be an optional renderer? It could come in handy.
Not bashing here, I love it; just curious. ____________________ Irony is the spice of life. |
