Ow, the edge.

So, apparently this is an attempt at a "creepypasta" game, or something.

The screenshots are from the original game, and can be misleading. I thought this was just someone distributing a rom, and labelling it as a hack in order to keep it from being removed, but it is just a badly made hack.

The ips is packaged with a "....txt" file, that says "save him..." and an image with a corrupted screencap named "...before it's too late....png"

When you start the game, you can't let the curtain in the title screen go halfway up the screen before you press start or the game crashes.

The textures are all red and black, and none of the blocks are hittable. The block next to where you get the leaf, when hit, also crashes the game.

Don't complete or die on the first level or the game crashes.

Basically, this hack is a tryhard take at being "creepy".
Very edgy.

It looks like Shadow Mario's right hand is missing.

Weird.

I was outstandingly upset to see that SMSRealm had closed, and all the users here shrugging off Sunshine as if it's a normal thing to do.

I've been putting tons of effort into writing hacks for Super Mario Sunshine just to see the community reject the game.

I don't mind being a lone wolf, but I just want to know why only the minority pays this game any mind when it comes to mods. Is it not interesting? Is it too complicated?

And lastly, is there any Super Mario Sunshine hacking community that is still alive?

I'm not sure of the standards that are set in this situation, but I'd certainly say 3000+ posts on a forum discussing hacking of a game isn't a failure.

I honestly don't understand how a game can be neglected like this when other Mario titles are praised and treated with a huge community of tools and hacks. I know I'm not the only one who believes Super Mario Sunshine deserves more attention.

I know it's all a matter of opinion on what games you choose to put your time and effort into and all that, but this is mine, and I'd be delighted to be a member of a community that chooses to focus effort into Sunshine.

The problem lies at people thinking that there should be a community, and that the core should be a tool or a certain hack. That is just plain wrong and I don't know when this developed but this going on quite some time now in all kind of "Communities".

tl;dr: stop whining about fucking communities and just do shit if you want something to happen. (This should not be taken to personal)

You're absolutely right. That's my opinion on the subject, too.
The only problem is, it's difficult to learn how to do things if there's no one to ask. How can I pool knowledge if there's no one to pool it from?

I've been teaching myself for a few months now when it comes to Super Mario Sunshine hacking, and I've gotten a very long way, but there are some times when I just get stuck, and don't know where to start. I reach that point where I go looking for someone to ask for help, only to find that there is no one to ask.

I'm going to be releasing some of the smaller creations of mine in order to hopefully attempt to spark some interest in this subject again. I've put far too much work into this to just have it stomped on by people considering this and that "dead".

In SM64, all the graphics are simple, so anyone can throw together some shit in SketchUp and have it look decent ingame.

Modelling is hard. Just because there's a lower standard doesn't mean it's not still difficult and time-consuming to do.

I know there's a way to patch Gecko codes to a Wii executable for games, but is there a way to do such a thing for Gamecube? Possibly with AR as well?

I've been curious about such a thing for a while, and it would be awesome to write the changes codes can make to the actual game.

Posted on 06-01-15 11:44 PM, in How can you load a backed up GC iso on a Homebrew enabled Wii? (rev. 2 of 06-01-15 11:45 PM) Link | #60517

use Nintendont, it's better for GC games and you only install it and you're set.

Right. If it's just a backup, you should be fine.

Because I like to mod my games, I set lots of different game IDs so I don't get my hacked ISOs confused or my save files mixed. Nintendont likes to put up a fight because it thinks I'm trying to load a game ID that's not in the whitelist it sets as "Okay, yeah, you own this game."

I use DIOS MIOS for this sole reason. The only problem is, it can induce piracy. I don't use it for that reason, but it's nice for what I need it for.

In your situation, however, Nintendont should do nicely.

If you need a guide, you can head over to the page on CompleteSoftModGuide.

I hate to be that guy, but the xdelta patch link in the OP is dead.

Would you or someone else care to reupload?
