MC! Since I've seen your design and I think it's MUCH better than mine will ever be :P

A few requests here:
:- in Star 1, the first planet should be a small cube with a switch on. The background is black and there is no music playing, then when Mario hits the switch BOOM! Colour, light and sound fire up and a launch star appears to the actual first planet :P I think that would be good for effect.
:- in Star 2, the crash course, Octoomba Concert. OCTOOMBA CONCERT.

I'm sure the first idea can work fine. After all, in Martboo's "Curiosity with Switches" video, he changes the background just by spinning, and I'm sure music changes are possible also so I believe the first idea is definitely within our capabilities :3

Well, you're the designer ;) but if you want my opinion: loudspeakers on the stage, trailing wires and a mic stand. Coloured lights shining onto a kind-of semi-circle-esque stage. The Octoombas are all dancing in the "pit" section :P

At least, that's my visualization of it. Yours might be completely different :)

At the end perhaps? The star can be on the stage and there is a little ramp leading up to it. Mario has to bowl them down to reach the star. Poor Octoombas indeed.

Just a quick question, will the pipes between the unstable-gravity planet and the gravigen processing center be using "magnetic" gravity? (e.g: as in, Mario sticks to the walls, similar to how he does inside of a spherical planet?)

Celestial Path or Astral Path kinda seem like they'd fit in a later world though... Maybe it could work though, I mean, depending on what the other World Names are.

Well, I revised it again recently. It's been ages since I last worked on it so I apologize for that :P

I've changed the main melody's instrument to be sharper and more audible, as well as removing the drum solo and adding in some extra bits here and there. Criticism is, as always, strongly encouraged :)

To be honest, I can't notice too much variance between the most recent revision and the first one... I'll wait a while to gather some more opinion on this.

What if we had like a short flame maze with an ice flower in the centre? Mario would then have to backtrack through the maze to a lava road which he could then cross (it can't be too difficult, we're still in World 2 here)

The only problem I see with that is players cheating their way across, but having said that... both galaxy games had entire sections that were optional if you were an advanced player. What does everyone think?

Just at the end of the level a bunch of Octoombas surrounding a stage (with a ramp so Rock Mario can get up) and a star in the centre. That's all I was envisioning the "concert" to be anyway.

I agree with MG3, it can't be too complex if the idea is going to be used at all. It will have to be simple.

Although having said that- if you take a look at some galaxies in world 2 of the previous games (Hightail, Space Junk, Sling Pod, Cosmic Cove Star 2) it doesn't have to be too easy. Because man some of those galaxies were (and still are) pretty difficult.

How about it goes Planet 1 -> Ice Flower Introduction -> Flame Maze -> Ice Slide -> Final Planet -> Star

That would be the basic layout for Star 1.

It's only a two star galaxy, and one of them is either a secret star or a comet mission. Ergo, everything has to be squeezed into star 1.

Like Polari says, we need to get the feel of the galaxy and possibly a full written design or as near to one as possible before we start with the music.

We should leave this thread for now and get to the Level Design ones.

MC. Give us one logical reason why we can't draw inspiration from an outside source.

Anyway on topic, I like the idea of including star wars-esque spaceships. I also imagine them being similar to the Dreadnought from Galaxy 1. If those two ideas were fused together it would be even better.

Are we going to start the second mission at the top of the ice slide or on a different planet and transition into the slide?

Also, after the flame maze what's going to happen? A launch star to a final planet? A power star? Any suggestions here?
