That is almost exactly the style I was visualizing for this galaxy as well! Especially the blue/grey/futuristic colo(u)r scheme.

@Agent000: I'll try and have a look at the setting on that particular instrument, see if I can get it to sound more Mario-y.
@NWP: I'll mess around with the dynamics at that bit. It is overpowering the counter-melody and backing instruments quite a lot :P
@MoreCowbell: Yeah, I was a bit iffy whether to include that bit or not. It's too much of a change of tone, I agree with you here. Perhaps a different melody would fit a lot better here...

Anyway, new version should be up within the week with the requested changes et cetera :)

I'd agree that Flarefrost should be swapped. Fire/Ice levels are generally quite difficult. But then again, the galaxy positions have already been fixed so I don't know how possible that is :/

I thought I'd better make a separate post for the revision because that way it's more likely to be seen :3 I know double posts are frowned upon and I apologize but it seemed logical :P

The requested changes were included. However, the bit I'm particularly interested in feedback for the new track is the drum solo where the long notes used to be. I'm wondering if it's going to be okay or if you'd like me to change it back/to something else.

Yeah, I thought the long notes were better to be honest :/ MC didn't like them but, hey, guess you can't please everyone.
I'll put the long notes back in and raise the volume of the melody.
Obviously changing the soundfont of the melody.

That should do it right? Right. Okidoki.

I appreciate the feedback so much :) It's really helping with the progression of this theme. It's all constructive and it's all useful :3 New(er) version (possibly final?) should be up tomorrow.

I've been trying to make a new revision for a while, but unfortunately I can't do it. Everything I add to the song seems to... take away... if you know what I mean :P

So I'm just going to leave it as it is for now and get working on something else :)

@MC: Thanks! The drum break was kind of iffy, but I think it's better than those boring long notes.

I'll come back to working on this at some other point.

I really love it, seriously it's one of the best fan-made pieces on the internet... but it doesn't seem very "Galaxy". I could see it fitting much better in, say, Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts.

If you can try and capture the galaxy essence with the adjustments, it would fit in a lot better.

I agree. It's almost exactly what we're looking for. Lots of colour, sound and instrument references. We can definitely draw A LOT of inspiration from that.

I agree. No remakes, but draw heavy inspiration is all. There should be as much originality as possible in this project and the Mario Kart 7 track is a good thing to base the inspiration of the level off.

I'm not sure :/ It's too quiet for starters (maybe notes need to be articulated more) and the melody is a bit dull... you've done everything Agent specified in the guidelines but... it's just not BIG enough for a flying theme yet, in my opinion.
On the plus side I love that dominant to tonic slurry synth you have there and think that should definitely be kept/used at some other point in the project.

Basically, it's good, but needs work.

EDIT: I agree with MM above, I could see it in a Bowser/Bowser Jr. stage (maybe Bullet Base?)

Trying to get this galaxy to be moved is more trouble than it's worth. Although I'm completely in favour of the move, we should at least try and come up with at least some easy fire/ice ideas.

Xenoblade is my favourite game of all time. Period. I am SO EXCITED FOR THE SEQUEL/PREQUEL/SIMILAR-STYLE
I'm also looking forward to Mario U and the new Zelda :3

It definitely needs to be fast moving, with a prominent electronic bassline, much like Fleet Glide.
The orchestrated bit must be loud and proud and epic. This is a flying through lava galaxy remember, so anything that doesn't reflect the tone doesn't fit.
If you are having an orchestral melody, it needs to have a lot more variance in it that it currently does. It's very simple at the moment.
We need drums. Lots and lots of drums.

I think this would help the piece a lot :P Feel free to ignore this advice though, it's your own piece to do as you please with :3

The move is going to be very tedious and no-one wants any drama or fall-outs here. This galaxy needs to be unique from Freezeflame and Shiverburn anyway. Plus, it will give less-experienced players the chance to experience the fire/ice galaxy.

We need to at least come up with some kind of easy design before we decide fully on the move. I might actually provide a star synopsis myself when I have spare time...

Anyway, the point remains. I don't think a decision should be made about this until we have completed a design for this galaxy.

That's completely understandable. It needs to keep the same epic feel though even if it evolves to be something completely different. Atmosphere (galaxy puns) is key.

Definitely not bad; I agree with NWP though. Needs more, but as a point of reference a jolly decent job. I agree with MG3 as well, it is a bit repetitive but that can easily be changed with a few variations :3
