My thoughts on the game? It's pretty incredible. Here is my review:

Mario Kart 8 has a lot to live up to. After all, it's coming off of the terrific Mario Kart 7. With the move to HD, the game really takes advantage of the improved hardware, and features an orchestrated, jazzy soundtrack. Course design is terrific with the new Anti-Gravity freshening things up heavily. Although it can be hard to notice, it makes the already-wild courses even more wild.

Graphics:

The game is beautiful. Although character models could have had some more texture work (especially DK), the courses themselves look beautiful. Framerate is smooth, and the courses definitely take advantage of HD - 9.5/10

Sound:

Brand new voice clips and an Orchestrated Soundtrack bring this game alive. By far the best Mario Kart Soundtrack, with catchy tunes playing in Mount Wario, Mario Circuit, Electrodrome, Cloudtop Cruise, Sunshine Airport, and Thwomp Ruins. But the cherry on top is the fact that most Retro Course themes are remixed/orchestrated! Nostalgia hits you hard, even harder with better instruments. Glorious. - 10/10

Gameplay:

The most important aspect of the game is handled with care. Every aspect is balanced pretty well (with the exception of the coin item in first place), and the gameplay is smooth and enjoyable. Items are handled well, and so is drifting. Anti-Grav works just like it should, but the added boost effects add some new variety. Glider and Underwater sections return as well, and work great. One nitpick is that the game feels just a tad too slow. It's not bad, it's just a preference. No game has matched the speed of Double Dash, and I heavily miss that. Kart customization is back and works great. Some people might not like it, but I actually appreciated it. Battle mode is entirely forgettable, with a poor design choice. On the upside, online play is AMAZING and even better than Mario Kart 7's amazing online play. - 9/10

Lasting Appeal:

The courses will want to make you want to replay them over and over again. The package is very nice and fits together nicely. You have all of the expected modes for Mario Kart here, but with a game this good, would it have been too much to ask for a better battle mode? How about the return of mission mode? Or Bomb Blast mode from Double Dash returning? The character roster is also incredibly lackluster, despite it's incredible size. So many characters are so similar that variety is heavily missing. Why so many babies? I still don't understand why Baby Peach and Daisy (plus Baby Rosalina now) continue to race, especially since 2 of these babies were created just for Mario Kart. They're stupid characters. The Koopalings were cool and all, but where is Bowser Jr? Also, where is Diddy Kong? Dry Bones/Bowser? KING BOO? Birdo? So many classic characters left out. But VS mode is back, thank god. Custom races for the win! Overall, a decent amount of Lasting Appeal, but could have had more. - 8/10

Overall: Not the best Mario Kart, but it settles for a solid second place, with Double Dash taking the lead. They did indeed step it up, and this polished, jazzy Mario Kart is the best one we've seen since the Gamecube - 9.3/10

Two new fighters are confirmed. First is...

Mii. Not bad, I like the 3 classes to choose from, they should make a solid addition

The second new fighter is...

Palutena. Disappointment, especially because she isn't really that relevant in the long run. I guess Sakurai was just trying to add more Kid Icarus characters. I do like the style of the trailer though. I was hoping for Chrom or Captain Falcon.

So I saw the new trailer. I would have to say that I love the new open world look. Hyrule looks beautiful. I also really like that Epona is back. Unfortunately, the character art style isn't that great. While I love the overworld design, Link's looks meh... because it looks like a more cel-shaded version of Skyward Sword's unique style. I hope they make it look slightly more realistic, as we haven't had a realistic Zelda in ages.

It looks to be a great game. Hope that Ganon makes a return (I'm sure he will).

But OPEN WORLD ZELDA FTW. That alone makes me hype for this game.

Link kinda looks like a girl... which would be interesting if there was a heroine of time.

It appears that the new Amiibo figures will work for Mario Kart 8. This creates a highly likely chance for MK8 DLC, especially with Diddy Kong (who was a surprising absence on the MK8 roster).

I liked the title Yarn Yoshi better tbh. Looks like a promising game, is prolly gonna be way too easy.

Nintendo just revealed a new IP. I have to say, it looks really interesting. It looks like a mix of Team Fortress with De Blob. The colors and visuals are really impressive looking, and I also like the new gameplay, which looks very unique. I have a good feeling that this can become a great Nintendo franchise, and it looks a lot of fun. I will probably get this. What are your thoughts?

so now Shulk and Chrom are basically confirmed! AWESOME!

Also now we get

Mario, Mega Man, Sonic and Pac-Man in the same game, representing Nintendo, Capcom, Sega and Namco. This is pretty Legendary.

Also I watched the invitational tournament live (it ended at 5'o clock AT NIGHT, and I watched the whole goddamn thing. Sleep is overrated). I'm kind of disappointed by the ending, since

Zero was stalling during the last minute just to get a cheap Sudden Death Victory. IMO Hungrybox deserved that win since he went all-out. I know that he camped a lot in the previous rounds but that was 4-player with items on so I kind of approve (he needs to be a bit defensive).

Also there are SO MANY people riding Melee's dick who now instantly dismiss SSB4 since "it's not like Melee". SO FUCKING WHAT? It's more competitive than Brawl, you can do melee combos and it's a new smash bros game. Gah the competitive fanbase is so close-minded, and I play Melee a lot competitively :P

Since when are Shulk and Chrom confirmed? I know they are heavily speculated... but idk about confirmed.

Afaik the only non-leaked character was Rosalina. How come all of the predictions have come true except for her?

I still doubt the Chorus Men are going to make it into the game. It would be an even bigger curveball than ROB/Wii Fit Trainer were.

As for characters yet to appear, here is who I think will show up.
Chrom
Shulk
Wario
Captain Falcon
Game and Watch
Ganondorf
Ness
Jigglypuff
Ice Climbers
Meta Knight

That's really it. Wolf, Lucas, and ROB are downright GONE, The other 2 Trainer Pokemon have little chance of appearing, especially Squirtle b/c Greninja, Mewtwo is most likely not coming back (although it is possible), Snake is also not likely, even though he is a fan favorite (he was more of a one-time thing).

I really think the only 2 unconfirmed newcomers are Chrom and Shulk. Chrous Men would just be terrible tbh, and I think they were only listed as a mistake for Game and Watch, or as a prank of sorts.

Brawl had 15 newcomers. We are only at 8 or something. We need more.
And I think C. falcon is gone. Ninty doesnt like F zero anymore. And ness too.

But we will see :P

You're JOKING. Please tell me it's a joke... These two characters are ENORMOUS fan favorites and have been around since the first Smash Bros. People would be outright PISSED if Captain wasn't in the game. They're not going to abandon him. Look at Game and Watch... he's still around and hadn't had an ACTUAL GAME SINCE THE 80'S!!!!

Well people are very interested... The real reason no new F-Zero is being made is because they can't see how the series could evolve on a more "casual system" being that the gamecube version was blazing fast. and plus, Captain Falcon will NEVER be cut, period. He's a classic and is more famous on Smash Bros than on F-Zero.

Yes Jigglypuff would make the cut if they were to cut any of the original 12*, but really, Captain Falcon is just too popular to be cut.

Sad news guys :(

What this means is that the Shitty FLUDD will stay (It's one of the worst moves ever in Smash IMO). Also, Mario Tornado is a thing of the past, which is a shame, because it was such an awesome move. I had wished that Spin from SMG would be a replacement for Super Jump Punch, but that isn't happening either.

Congratulations Sakurai, you made Nintendo's main mascot meh.

Taking a closer look, it seems that it has very good models, combined with some cel-shading.

Are there any images? And I am part of project M. This was an issue with the Skyloft Stage. But since we revealed ours FIRST, then there's no reason we should get rid of it.

It still makes me so confused as to why Ganondorf hasn't even been mentioned yet :P
