well, I mostly reacted to that particular bit because it's not entirely true. Microsoft is far from perfect, but they do provide some very good software.

an example would be Intellisense in Visual Studio. I have yet to find a good equivalent in another IDE. Netbeans' version was slow, and whenever it worked, it got in the way more than it helped. CodeBlocks has a better one, but it's still not as good as Intellisense.

so it's not like Microsoft produces nothing but trash. however, they do make stupid decisions. since we're talking about Visual Studio, why does the free version require registration? the only purpose I can think of is tracking the users.

another prime example would be how the defragmenter tool was destroyed in Windows Vista. it devolved from complete view and control over the process, to a black box where you click a button and wait until it's done and you're considered too dumb to understand more information. maybe some people found it too complicated (choosing a drive to defragment is too complex??), but it lacked something as basic as a progress bar, or which drive is being defragmented.

and this is in reply to the whole paragraph.

You're making a fair point about the Visual Studio part, it's quite a solid IDE.
Though I personally prefer to stay away from IDEs, and code the old fashioned way instead, since my files remain as clean as possible (and it feels more nostalgic also).

Command prompt is where it's at.

I bet Microsofts' CMD also hides some stuff.
At least, as far as I understand it, Microsoft has been hiding away the MS-DOS part since Windows 95, and almost completely vanished to the background in Windows Me, which was the last Windows version that was based off MS-DOS.

Now all Windows versions are based off Windows NT instead, so Microsoft can hide/show whatever they wish, since it's entirely their own technology.
(And sorry if this part appears to be bullshit, it's only 4:41 am, at the moment of writing.)

So, what do you thing of Fluent design. I find it pretty sexy, like if Material and Aero had a child with only the good gene alleles :P And also, the things that pisses me off in Win10 seems to be almost gone: farts of Windows 7-8.1 still present in the system, like the File Explorer or the Control Panel.

I have to admit, Fluent Design looks way better than Metro/Modern/Material Design everyone faps on these days.
I never liked Metro/Modern in the first place, and Material looked cool in the very beginning, but then it started to get overused by everyone, plus the colours are often way to bright, which made me disgust that one as well.

With Fluent Design, it looks like Microsoft is stealing stuff from Apple again (take a look at iOS, that one had "Fluent Design" for years now!), but it's better to have something well stolen, than badly designed yourself, right?

You can try and find API files, or otherwise, download API files from the desktop version of the Play Store yourself (there are some Chrome/Chromium extensions to assist you with that), and manually install them on your phone.

However, I want to recommend you to do the second option, the first one is rather unsafe, and can also install malware, if you're not cautious.

2003 Aero

There was no Aero in 2003, Windows XP's theme was called "Luna", and it came out in 2001, not 2003.

I absolutely hate Windows Vista and Seven Aero 'acrylic' looks. Actually, I hate anything that isn't flat and simple.

Then you're the exact opposite of me, I actually prefer to have a nice glass effect over having a single, blinding colour right in your face...

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about Longhorn...
But then again, I'm not a Windows user, I only started using it when I joined secondary school, and only knew Debian (and DOS) before that.

Well, I still have a Mac Mini running Windows 7, from back when I needed it for Unity for New 3DS.
However, I no longer use it, and regular Unity is available for Linux also nowadays if I need to.

I'm considering to put Manjaro Linux on that one, and use it as my workstation while at home, and then my laptop I use all the time while at work.

Edit: Oh yeah, and Superkingboo is back on NSMB2 Modding, still unable to understand the fact that StapleButter is not in charge of that forum... ZZZzzz(ーωー。)

And I live in Koto, a city within Tokyo that's neighbouring with Chuo at west, Sumida at north, Edogawa at east, and lots of water at south.
But that's a whole ocean away from you.

Bump, because I came across yet another web trend, that really needs to die.

You know those ads inside phone apps?
Now some of them include audio also now, they play automatically, and there's no real way to stop it, unless you mute your phone entirely...
Why the fuck?!

I can understand the ads you see on buildings to make lots of sound, but you wouldn't expect it in phone apps...

For some reason, melonDS never worked for me, now is nothing different (except that now I have 2 windows, instead of 1).

Output log in the Terminal:

Just tried, but didn't change anything:

This ROM is basically the Japanese version, and I only applied a single music hack to it, as seen here (hence the filename):

But neither the region, nor the single music hack should affect whether melonDS can or can't run it, right?

and using ROM hacking tools can have unintended consequences.

also, surely may be because you are using WINE?

Why should I use Wine here?
I used a Windows 7 VM to replace the SSEQ in the SDAT file, then NSMBe (via Mono) to replace the SDAT file in the NDS ROM, a melonDS has a native Linux version also...

well if the hack runs on hardware, it should run in a good emulator

This video was captured off real hardware.

Feature request: A way to block PMs from specific people.
It seems like somebody who got banned last year now started adding me to random PMs, which are completely unrelated to me...

After months of having it lying around, I finally decided to put this non-working prototype on GitHub:
https://github.com/MKGirlism/KartOffsetEditor

By doing so, I really hope I get motivated to resume development.
