Want to hack a New 2DS LL at launch?
Better wait a little longer, it comes with a firmware version, that's not publicly available yet. The latest firmware released is 0.25.5, which is 11.4.0 on retail 3DS systems. The New 2DS LL came with 0.25.18. Downgrading not possible. |

Posted by Anthe I don't think so, Nintendo fucked with 3DS Firmwares only once so far, and it has been more of a region-level fuck up, rather than a system-level fuck up. Besides, I also remember how the 2DS firmware was newer than what was available, back when I got it. Except that there has been a 2 or 3 week difference with this one, so I might remember it incorrectly. Posted by Dilene That would have been a 0.26.x firmware, which is not the case here. |

Use CTRTool for that.
On Windows (replace "WHATEVER" with the filenames you've got): ctrtool --contents=nsmb2 WHATEVER.cia > nul
ren nsmb2.0000.WHATEVER nsmb2.cxi mkdir ncch move nsmb2.cxi ncch > nul mkdir exe ctrtool --exefsdir=exe --exheader=exe\exhdr.bin --romfs=romfs.bin ncch\nsmb2.cxi > nul ctrtool --romfsdir=romfs romfs.bin > nul del romfs.bin On Linux and macOS (replace "WHATEVER" with the filenames you've got): ctrtool --contents=nsmb2 WHATEVER.cia mv nsmb2.0000.WHATEVER nsmb2.cxi mkdir ncch mv nsmb2.cxi ncch mkdir exe ctrtool --exefsdir=exe --exheader=exe/exhdr.bin --romfs=romfs.bin ncch/nsmb2.cxi ctrtool --romfsdir=romfs romfs.bin rm -rf romfs.bin |

Posted by StarTrekVoyager Eh, it's always best to assume the most strict version, and then try to find the limits within that one. I mean, here in Japan, it's strictly prohibited by law to carry a gun, while in the USA, it's legal under certain conditions (or something like that). However, this is not a free ticket for an American to come over to Japan armed. Illegal is illegal, you can't just say the cops over here it's perfectly fine to walk around armed in Japan, just because you're American. If you're in Japan, you obey the Japanese law, no matter your nationality. This is nothing different with GBATemp really, it has lots of American members, so it's always safe to remain more political correct, than you would be on a French forum. By the way, GBATemp is always packed with complete idiots, I only have an account over there for a few occasions, like this one. But when I don't need it, I just stay away from it... Edit: Happy Birthday, Spacey! |

Nintendo skipped lots of minor version numbers throughout the entire 3DS era, actually.
Firmware 11.x is one exception, Nintendo skipped only 1 minor version number once in this case. That's probably because of the many exploits Nintendo 'quickly' patched. |

Posted by Swingball I often watch RT while at home, though I didn't have much time to watch anything at all, this week... By the way, Twitter seems to be down. 技術的な問題が発生しています。 → A technical error occurred. ご迷惑をお掛けしております。 → Sorry for the inconvenience. |

I never made any SM64(DS), NSMB2, or SMG(2) games, and yet I'm here.
Aka, nothing to worry about, I'm only here for the general discussions, and at some occasions, for ROM Hacking. |

On Linux (I'm using MATE), I can simply install some custom themes from MATE-Look.org, and have something that doesn't look like anyone else.
It's also possible on Windows, but only through 3rd party apps... But, why risking your PC with 3rd party apps on Windows, while you can have them natively on Linux? |

It's called, Mainstream Propaganda.
They did everything to make you vote for a fishy Macron, and it's what happened. So in fact, it did work. |

Chromium and QuteBrowser (both being WebKit-based) don't do that...for now. |

Posted by StarTrekVoyager 1. The macOS userbase is much bigger than 1%, though. 2. Swiching off WiFi doesn't require Admin/sudo rights. Never did, and never will. 3. You maybe don't know, but anti virus is crucial on a Mac, even more than it is on Linux. It's really the very reason those exist at all! The days of "only Windows needs a condom before going online" are long over, now every OS can have viruses. Fact remains that most PC-user viruses are for Windows, but it doesn't automatically mean that Linux, macOS, Android, and iOS are totally virus-free. |

Well, exploits are considered malware also, so...
Additionally, there are some brickers to consider, though they're only affecting Homebrew-enabled devices, and are mostly PEBKAC, anyway, |

Posted by TruelyJohn64 I still find it hillarious how people assume 3rd party tools can block literally all the spyware Microsoft ever added into Windows since its very existence... Just for those who don't know, Windows is a closed source OS, it's impossible to know whether you've blocked everything or not, and whether Microsoft added/changed/deleted anything or not. Posted by StapleButter Let's be honest here, when did Microsoft actually make an operating system (or any other piece of software) that doesn't suck? I do like their keyboards, mice, and tablets, but each software product they ever made is bloated as fuck, confusing, buggy, etc. But at least it got all the ROM Hacking tools... |

Eh, that's precisely not my point here.
I don't say I hate Windows because I use Linux, I only give my genuine opinion as a Linux user since her first PC with a GUI. You often hear from Windows users on how confusing and hard Linux is, but I also found Windows very confusing and hard to use, compared to Linux. Not because it's a fact, but simply because you're used to something else. I do need to use Windows for ROM Hacking tools, and for Premiere Pro, but other than that, my sole Windows PC is turned off at all times. And please, quote the whole paragraph, instead of just one sentence... The reasons I gave weren't even quoted there, which makes it seem like you're completely ignoring all of that... |
