I've tried to keep a cool head ever since I first registered on the SMG2.5 forums when I was twelve, but I've had my moments. Don't look too far back into Relaxland or the SMG2.5 archives! :P

Didn't you and gc constantly post in the old level design section? Argl.

I can't recall, although that may have been the case.

I was more referring to my emotional breakdowns that would happen when one of my more meaningless threads was criticized. *Ahem*

In any case, I think it's healthy to be able to look back and laugh at some of the stuff we did when we were younger, even if it was only so far as a year ago.

Is this still ongoing, or do you intend to incorporate it into NMG?

That's wrong...You can use any model, but if it is too large, it crashes.

I think he meant that the model file was named incorrectly.

The WorldMap0(X).arc files. Like WorldMap01.arc for the World 1 map.

Regardless, though, if you haven't edited the world map directly, it's likely the error is something else.

Oh really...It is darn easy to use. So easy that you don't need a tutorial.

...I never managed to figure out which file I CAN open using the World Map Editor.

Really?

Well let me be honest, I think you should quit hacking mario galaxy. If you are not able to think and try stuff out, then you will get more problems in the future.

Unless you going to atleast try to open files. Just think real logical.

He probably just didn't know they were there. Please don't be so cruel to someone who is showing genuine dedication and progress in his mini-hack. We all learn through mistakes, after all.

As I said before, try deleting your edited SystemMessage and see if it loads.

If so, then you need to look through the SystemMessage and see if anything is misspelled or improperly formatted.

sigh, nevermind.

The game seems to have a 255 star limit.

Just as I always feared.

Oh well, I guess you're gonna have to reduce the number of new stars in your hack. Maybe you can scrap the extra green stars and focus on the new hidden normal stars.

IT DOES??!!! When I had 288 Stars in my mini-hack... the game did not crash... but when I increased it to 291, it crashed...

In both cases, I didn't actually collect all 288/291 Stars...

Did your star counter on the HUD say 288 or anything above 255 at any point?

No... The highest I ever got the HUD's Star counter to was 249 Stars...

I never went above 255 either, which means that MrRean is almost certainly correct about the freeze. Sorry, pal. :(

Does anyone know how to edit the UseResource file of a galaxy? I'm probably missing something pretty obvious here, but I can't seem to find anything about it.

Use Whitehole's BCSV Editor. Files are located inside Stage/csv

So my path for the BCSV editor is StageData/AbekobeGalaxy/AbekobeGalaxyUseResource.arc/abekobegalaxyuseresource/stage/csv.bcsv

This isn't right. Can you elaborate on the location of these files?

Posted by MrRean
Or just open UseResource with anarchy...?

Anarchy says "Encoding name Shift-JIS not supported" when I select AbekobeGalaxyUseResource.arc.

Does Whitehole have the ability to directly edit custom galaxies? Because if not, that's definitely a feature that needs to be supported.

How do you connect new music to the galaxy?

Edit both BCSV files inside StageBgmInfo.arc. StageBgmInfo.bcsv contains the stuff for music changes in the galaxy and ScenarioBgmInfo.bcsv is the normal music per scenario.

I added two rows corresponding to the scenarios, but the custom music still won't show up in the custom galaxy. I think it must have something to do with the filename - I named it SMG2_galaxy98_strm.ast and placed it in /AudioRes/Stream, but in the ScenarioBgmInfo, all of the songs are labeled MBGM_SMG2_GALAXY_(number). Is there some kind of ID I need to add for the custom music files?

Yeet son!

Can't wait to move all of my custom levels into custom galaxies in custom worlds, leaving the original sections of the game untouched!

Nah, completely new music files aren't possible yet, because this requires edits to the SZS file in the AudioRes directory.

Not even with SZS modifier?

Wow. Thanks so much, SunakazeKun. I now have Planet Plains running as a completely separate galaxy more or less perfectly. This coupled with your new world hacks will allow my shabby little SMG2.5 beta to become a far more polished and playable experience.

You've done so much for SMG2 in so little time, and I respect you a lot for that.

That said, it's worth noting that viewing the Star List on the Starship Mario crashes the game with extra galaxies.

Do you think you could get me a debug?

I realized that I forgot to save when editing the GalaxyInfo.bcsv. :P

It's not a problem, setting the World to 10 fixes it.
